    From Rabbit Hash, Kentucky to Columbus, Zanesville, Wheeling West Virginia, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Cumberland, Maryland, Washington DC, Summit New Jersey, New York City then 30 miles Southeast of Albany New York.

    We are north of Wheeling, WV watching a storm pass by. A bit behind because of heat and hills the last couple of days. 94° and hills hitting 15% grade. The two combined wear you down pretty quick.

    A short day today. We pulled into Pittsburgh today just before the rains hit.

    The weather conditions deteriorated so rapidly we elected to get a hotel rather than continue on and camp for the night. It proved to be the correct decision. The area has been battered by heavy thunderstorms, multiple lightening strikes and inches of rain.

    We expect problems along the GAP Trail tomorrow due to heavy rain and flash flooding.

    The C&O Tow Path is in abysmal condition due to flooding and almost daily rain showers that have kept the flood deposited silt a deep, sloppy mess. We met this northbound traveler today in Cumberland, MD. They walked the last 8 miles because of the mud packed in the components.

    Soooo....we got a room in Cumberland and used the guest computer to develop 3 road detours to avoid some of the mess. Tomorrow we are off again, hopefully avoiding much of the mess.

    We had a few problems with trees down on the GAP Trail. I packed everything needed for this trip except my 461! It would have made quick work of that maple!
