Ahhhh, the Weekly World News. The motto of the managing editor, Eddie Clontz, was "Don't factcheck yourself out of a good story." The motto of the Weekly World News (now only a website) was and is, "The World's Only Reliable News". Personally I loved looking at WWN headlines in the supermarkets back in the 1990's. There I learned about Bill Clinton's love child with an alien from outerspace, and that Bin Laden had been caught by some Ozark hillbillies, and that Hillary Clinton had run off with the BatBoy, but had been rescued by a squad of marines. The BatBoy headlines were my favorite. Never bought a paper, but someone must have.

 

Only thing that is different now is that most all of the news media outlets do their reporting using this format. If the internet or social media reports it, then it just has to be true.................................
