the battery, a beautiful spot to visit and a great spot to live I'm sure if you can deal with a shortage of outdoor space and the narrow roads are probably a pain in winter. My grandmother grew up there, I somehow doubt such a place would be built today. Definitely a unique part of the capital city.

red ship on her way out is a coast guard ship, exactly what branch of coast guard I couldn't say. The Dark blue ship, the Siem Pilot, is an oilfield supply ship bringing supplies to offshore drill rigs, the blue Tanker, the Jana Desgagnes, was tied up at the supply base, must have been delivering some kind of fluid in bulk for the oilfield.

the grey tanker, the Acadian is a 598' product tanker bringing in refined product to a terminal, her or her Twin sister ship come by on a roughly weekly basis.

We do also have an oil refinery routinely serviced by crude tankers bringing in crude as well as product tankers collecting refined product for export, i often wish i could get more pics of those ships, but due to the nature of the site, and it not being overly near work or home, I don't get pics near as much as I'd like to. I'm not sure I see the value in the other company bringing in oil products when we have a refinery, except I guess it prevents a monopoly. But I still prefer to buy local myself.

The Red freighter in the first photo is the 41 year old, 634' Oceanex Sanderling, she brings goods both to and from the island, be it new vehicles, scrap metal, or almost anything you'd find in a store. By far the oldest on a fleet of 3 that carries about half of our imports, the other half being trucked in on the public ferry service.

Thank you so much the info , in my ignorance I didn't know that you had an oil field off shore or a refinery .

No problem man, I'm still always finding out about stuff I never knew we had. Keeps things interesting as a photographer i guess, although I seem to take far more pics on an evening walk than I do on a 500 mile road trip to a place I've never been   The world is so big yet so small.....
