Something I keep forgetting to post here- saw the first hint of a lightning bug/fire fly well over a week ago here... getting brighter and more frequent every evening since!

Heck, been killing mosquitoes for about 2 weeks now.. seems as soon as it hits 65-70 they come out.

And yeah, the lightning bugs are just now making an appearance.
Can't wait, in a couple of weeks they'll be lighting up everything around here.

Spent so many years in the "city" where we virtually never saw them, I was happily amazed at how many we see out here.

I've never seen one in person and they sound magical to watch. BTW, I bought this a few years ago when we moved up here, it scared the bejeebies out of my dogs so it sits idle on a shelf in the garage.

I love sitting out in my "lukewarm tub" on summer nights watching the fireflies and stars. I had never seen them before buying the house tso.years ago.

It's a beautiful morning in the Texas Panhandle, mid to upper 90's all week. Retired life is great as I stay very busy most days and some we just hang out at the house. A dinner brisket is on the pellet grill. Have a great day and be safe everyone. :)

I am glad to hear you are enjoying retirement. Seems like anyone who has retired finds more things to do than when they were working.

They can even take a freeze! But usually below 60 (the experts say 56) degrees they go dormant. We notice even below 70 degrees they are not so active unless you go wading through some tall grass or something like that. And I've never found anything better than a thermacell.

I remember several years ago on RAAM when we had some folks from CA who had also never seen a lightning bug. They were just in awe as we got out eat. It was like someone who had never seen the Grand Canyon or something similar. A real thrill for them. I hope you do get to see some of them WW.

Wife and I looked at a used motor home yesterday. Might have bought it but a bit too small so we passed.

I have been using google keyboard on my kindle fire tablet but it isn’t working correctly so I went back to the native keyboard. It is junk and spell check is even worse than I remember.

Conclusion I don’t care anymore I don’t have time to triple check both myself and the tablet.

I believe it’s called fat finger commando!
