Yes onions and garlic with the peppers and Italian sausage, a good balsamic works fine if you don't have Saba. Polenta is wicked easy, simmer some chicken stock with a bit of milk and gradually whisk in cornmeal until you get the thickness you want, it thickens more as it cooks and sets up, I like it the same consistency as oatmeal.
I think I'll have to give this a try. Sometimes I run out of dinner ideas, kinda get tired of the same things over and over. Thx for the dinner suggestion.
Most all sweet things with that sausage is good. Yellow peppers are an excellent selection. Much more mellow than green.
This recipe has a lot of variety. I should definitely try this out but I'd rather use plum sauce than grapes. It might taste almost the same but the visual imagery of grapes with sausages makes me feel weird lol.
Chaz , polenta with hot italian sausage and spaghetti sauce over the top has been a staple for us almost for 30 years, its awesome!! Not sure where the time went but I still want to try cornmeal mush pancakes out of it someday! Put anything you want over it, has a different texture than cornmeal which we love. (PS, not a fan of the precooked stuff in the supermarket in a tube, ick.).
DaveGunter Love the grape idea. Provides a sweet counterpoint to the savory onions and sausage. Another example would be a sweet BBQ sauce on pulled pork or perhaps mango chutney or relish. Have to run down to the kitchen now. You've made me hungry! I think there is some leftover cranberry marmalade smoked chicken. metalcuttr
