I've always spayed/neutered pets at first opportunity. Granted, most of mine were rescues so part of the package. Just always figured so many need good homes, why breed more.

Sad part is 5 years later you figure out you got a great one you would breed.

I understand where you're coming from WeldrDave I understand why it should be done.
I just hate when the wife says "We should have her 'fixed' ".
My response is .. "She's not broken, everything works."

But having them spayed does cut down on the "pizzing contests" between un-spayed females.

My neighbors chihuahua still thinks it needs to mark "it's" territory on MY property as when my sister lived here they had a Boston terrier that wasn't spayed.

Holly, our dog, unfortunately had to be caught in the middle of that BS.

I tried to talk to the neighbor about his dog's travels, mostly because it likes to come onto my property and bark at me, Holly, and Jill like we're on it's property. His reply.. "that's why we moved out here, so we could let our dogs run"

I said "fine, on YOUR property, NOT mine." I also mentioned that even though we live outside of the city, we are still in New York, and as far as I knew, leash laws still apply.

Needless to say, we don't get along so well. They breed the dogs all the time, and have asked us more than once if we wanted to buy any puppies. Not.

Don't know how I missed it. My old Lab Max has started having what looks to be a sort of seizure. He drops to the floor, his head slams around and down on the ground/floor. His head is drawn back and then he becomes incontinent. Either or both. I put him on hemp oil. seems to be walking better but still having seizures. They come on with any excitement. Then tonight, after cleaning up after him, I recalled that it was a little over a month ago I put his first Seresto flea collar on him. I also put on our black female lab. So I have taken the collar off, washed his neck. (tomorrow a bath) and have written to 1800petmeds.com who had sent me an email asking me how our dog was doing after the purchase. I don't know how I missed that. :headbang:

That su##s terribly. Hope getting the collar off and the bath will alleviate the symptoms.

We put the Sentinel drops on Holly, she's not a big fan of them, but haven't had but 1 tick on her in the years that we've had her here.

I'm so sorry. Larry, take a peek at Vestibular Disease in older dogs. My Brittany had it and it sounds quite similar to what you described, especially the head slamming, drawn back, and incontinence. Regardless, I bet a veterinarian could help.

I'm sorry to hear that Larry. Our lab at 13 started having seizures and we tried everything to make it stop including Phenobarbital. It got to the point he was having them stronger and longer and the Vet said he most likely had a tumor. :(. I'm praying for you and him Larry, hope it goes away.

Giz and Sandy are still buddies, Terry. So far, they haven't had any ticks on em, but they aren't outside, or in the woods all that much. They both have the tick collars too. Ticks are sure out here tho too. New neighbors dropped in the other day and one of em had a tick on their light colored pants. They flipped... :hair:... they're from Calif with much to learn about Maine. Should be interesting.

Sorry to read that Larry. Giz had a bad reaction, a couple years ago, to the drops type. Collars have been fine so far. Hope Max is better soon.
