Swapped out the AC compressor and recharged the thing...
    Nice N cold

Got done with a short road test and pull back in front of the garage door and went after putting tools away and getting ready for a shower, and then a voice over my shoulder says "I think your right rear tire is going flat" :hair:

I take a quick peek and sure enough it is definitely down.

The tires are old (18 years on two of them) so air up the tire and whiz down the Mt to the tire shop and get 4 spanky new ones...

Then in about 2 hrs get to take the shower...
Bringing back a used rig is always a challenge...

Still the cost is under $2500
    Paint is good
    Interior is decent
    Runs great

Still a few things to fix, but overall a sweet little extra rig.

We have the 2017 Mercedes C 300 4 matic but I just cringe getting near that car if I am not absolutely spotless, and forget about hauling anything home other than the groceries..

So having the Van is a nice little helper.

The other rig is a 95 2500 Suburban 4x4 with the 7.4 V8 and its great for the heavy jobs, but that beast EATS like a horse... and for the casual little jobs it's just too spendy to use as an everyday rig..

Been thinking about yanking the far rear seat out of the van to make room for hauling stuff... but then I gotta find a place to hide the seat that's out of the way ???????

    Ah well...

Some pics of the van and a couple shots of the gear that failed, and likely caused the cascade failure of the bearings and such.

A lot of metal came off that gear..

That the issue. They cant get here till after the warranty expires. The service company was suppose to call me yesterday about getting here earlier but didnt. Called the service company and got a recording.

See where this is going? I will stop at Lowes tomorrow to speak to a manager and see if they can get involved here.

As long as you have on record that you had an issue before the expiration date there shouldn't be a problem. If the issue can be fixed, it stil might be a good idea to get the extended warrantee anyway. They usually aren't hard noses on getting your extension in on time (I usually get notices for several months after), so you can probably wait until you find out how this issue will be handled.

BUT, probably good call on getting Lowes involved if possible. At least mention to them about the warrantee and how you need to make sure that the fridge is covered for the present issue.

And now the ice maker hasnt worked since I unplugged and cleaned the mechanics yesterday. Didnt do anything around the ice make at all. :picard:
I did find the reset/test button and the unit cycled properly and then filled with water. Maybe it just needed a reset.

At least this is happening a week before the warranty has run out on not a week after.

As I always do with anything like this, I asked for a claim or ticket number when I reported the issue. He said there isnt one but its on record. Definitely got my antennas up on that one.

Careful what you say. Likely to have everything break down with deadlines looming. And then all the parts come in on the day before vacation......at 4PM. And anyone else that can do the work has called out sick that day :hair:

What a time to have the kitchen fridge/freezer issues......thankfully I have the garage upright freezer as the Foodsaver vacuum packer is going to get a work out. Hannaford is having one of their better pre-summer sales. Time to stock up

Dammit. Fridge temp now hovering around 50 deg :headbang:

Given that this is unlikely to be a quick fix if parts are needed (and we all know that parts will be needed)or if a long term issue and a fight to replace under warranty, I may pick up a mini fridge for the essentials. I can always return it if needed.

Sigh, good deals on fridges right now but cant go that route yet and I REALLY hope I wont have to. Wont get these discounts again till thanksgiving

Almost would have been better to not have the warranty in effect. Right now I have to play the game and if no warranty was there then I would tear into it, evaluate it and decide if repair or replace.

I say grab the mini fridge. They are good to have, are pretty cheap and dont cost much to run. Nice backup for when the main one chits itself like yours.
And they have been know to keep beer cold.

x2, as well as the one we bought for this "shack" when we moved in and used for 9 months has been loaned to neighbors who's fridge was on the blink.
