Bad year for fires in many places. We received another warning from the DNR about fire hazard especially up around yooperdave's area. South of us there is no threat as they have received some heavy rains that have missed us. Tis okay. Heavy rain is no good usually as it will mostly run off rather than soak into the ground.

Yooper Dave may even get warmer than us today. It happens most every spring, especially in May. I can remember a few times when Marquette hit 100 degrees in May. I'm thinking one of those years it turned out to be the highest temperature in the state for the whole year.

It was 93 yesterday, and the only thing I was burning was calories as I sweat my a** off loading and then unloading rounds from a scrounge. They’re poplar, so nothing special; but they were already cut up and free.

Yeah they missed us too. We had wind and rain but nothing like other areas. The worst of it seemed to be along the southern tier. Lancaster, York and Adams Co. got hit the hardest

I hope not for both of us. No doubt you remember what we went through last year in our area. Its sobering to see that you are dealing with fires already where you are. We have lots of snow in the higher elevations and rivers are spilling their banks in the west BC but here in the south east BC our rivers are full and ready to spill over but not there yet. We were 28c today which is way, way above normal. It looks like a cooling trend for a few days will help a bit and also help me start my wood harvesting now that many of the roads I need to access are free of snow (at least in lower elevations).

Morning to all of you, 52* here and it's supposed to warm right up to 74* this afternoon. After 4 decades of living here we saw our first Bluebirds here a couple yrs. back. We were overjoyed to say the least. I put a house up for them a few weeks backs, and they're liking it. So, I'm keeping an eye out the open window to get my daily view of them.

Bluebirds are so great, and they are loyal to their home. So, you can count on seeing them every year. I had some at my last place every year for 4 years, they came back every spring to their birdhouse and made a nest. When I sold my house, I told the new owners that they could obviously do anything they wanted to the house since they own it; but they seriously could not touch the bluebird house on the pole in the back yard. They were excited to have it, and were looking forward to the spring and the birds' arrival.

Since I got hearing aids, I'm really enjoying hearing the birds again.

A bit cooler overnight; in the mid-40's. Looks like more rain on the way for tonight. Having trouble getting rest of the garden put in. Might try tilling today and if so, maybe even get some more corn and peas in. The peas I planted earlier did not come up good at all so time to put more in.

It's cold outside this AM, 41°! So, a fire to warm up the basement, some punky oak.
Reminds me why I'm working so hard.

I saw that the neighbor had a fire in his stove yesterday. We might have one or two very soon. Cool and damp.

Haven't checked in in about a month. We're into summer no fire in over a month or so. It's been into the 90s here several times. Humidity is still low so it's not bad.

Cold and wet here. Fired up the reactor with some nice white pine that's substantially drier than when I split it a month ago. The logs that sit for a few years will spit plenty of water when splitting, but once they are split and sit out for a few weeks, they seem to lose a LOT of their weight very quickly. Anyone know if there's science behind this, or if I'm just imagining things? They seem to dry much faster than css off the stump.

Humidity has been too high here lately but when you have showers daily, the humidity will be high. Hoping we'll go back into a dry period soon.
