I have some cuttings from yard shrubs and some maple trees I want to root and plant.
At one time I could get some willow branches from my folks neighbours and make a rooting solution my dad taught me.

Today that neighbour sold their place with the willow tree and my folks are both gone also so I don't have that tree to make the solution from.

Any one have any Ideas? Other than buying stuff!!!!

My dad taught me to cut some hanging willow branches off the tree. How long they were didn't matter to much because he always cut them to fit inside a old pail, grease of some farm fluid came in years ago. We stripped the bark off and then poured scolding hot water on the stripped bark and branches enought to cover then and set it on Mom's old wood buring cook stove for about 6 hours to simmer.

Dad use the soulation to root mostly suckers from apple trees he liked and had left the suckers when he pruned in Febuary.
He would normally have a gallon of the stuff.
