There is a logging outfit pulled into a piece of property about a mile from my house. I'm getting all of the shorts they cut off when they load the trucks. I've hauled 10 loads so far. There is easily 30 more. It's a mixture of poplar red oak, white oak, beech and cherry. If I can get it all hauled in I'll be working on the 5 year plan. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X103F using Tapatalk
The wood gods have smiled on you for sure! Very nice, very, very nice! However, I believe you have won today's 'You Suck' award!
Nah.. he fainted straight away from his good fortune. It was only by luck that his phone captioned the moment.
And you have a building to put it in? You are one lucky guy! Tell us, how did you get the green light from the loggers to take the shorts? Just asked, or did you have to court them?
Super nice bunch of guys. I also fixed an oil leak on his skidder so I'm sure that helped. Loose clamp on the oil cooler. I've got a 20 by 12 she'd that's open on all sides it will burn me 3 years if it's full just never had it full. I'll get some pics later today. I've been gathering saws for about 6 months I've ran all of my saws. I've got a husky 55 that toath ported got about 8 tanks through it getting stronger all the time. My favorite is a 570 that I picked up in Michigan rebuilt the carb in it and that saw absolutely screams with a 24 on it. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X103F using Tapatalk
You've got it all together, the shed, the saws, and now the wood. Would love more pics of your setup. Will you have enough dry for next winter?
That's usually my trouble I burned dead standing pine for the past 2 years. I travel installing car washes all over the country and I'm not home very often. Wish I had the luxury to cut when I wanted. It's usually a mad dash trying to get enough wood in. I just got the cad about a year ago when I burnt up my 350. I cut last year with an 038 and I'm not a big stihl fan. Found all these wonderful chainsaw wood cutting sites and it's on lol. I'm burning a dutchwest stove at the moment bought new about 5 years ago. After reading the bad reviews on these sites it kinda scared me but I can't complain it's heated my house very well. Well get the poplar processed first, that should dry out over the summer in your climate. I've tried burning one year seasoned cherry, but I'm in NH with not so many hot days, and it just smouldered. Maybe in VA in the sun with air circulation you could dry cherry enough in a summer. BTW, Eric VW is just up the road from you...
You've been warned But yes, get the poplar split first, it should be dry by fall off you get it put up now.
That's my old beater kinda tall to be loading wood in. I had 40s on it and couldn't hold it in the road. Everybody needs an old truck to beat on. She's not pretty but it will climb a tree. It's the last of the straight axles. Always wanted one. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X103F using Tapatalk
The poplar will burn for sure the cherry will burn this year too. The oak I will have to wait on. Not burnt much beech time will tell best I can remember it don't split very well. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X103F using Tapatalk
Thanks! That was one of our babies from last year that we bottle fed. They were so friendly...this year's batch won't hardly let you get that close to take a pic like that (not bottle fed)
