It just doesn’t seem right to be collecting firewood when it’s 85° outside. However, I did find this today. And it’s burnable in 2018/19!
Yea it's supposed to be around 90 here all week and 60's at night. Me thinks spring is officially over! I probably won't crank up again until about September or so
I do a little but definitely not a sun up to sun down anymore. Mid 80-low 90 here this week. Not a fan....
I could get at it all Summer when I was younger but no more. I worked on some a week ago when it was hot and now the garden soil is warm enough to warrant my attention. It was supposed to cool off a little more than it has by the forecast experts. That's all right, there's always a plan B and C.
Looks like a good loada locust!!! Correct me if I’m wrong! Yeah hot just makes work tough...hydrate yourself.
I’m no wood I’d expert that’s for sure. Some is definitely oak. There was some pine, but I left it alone.
So I just did a quick search and found out locust is great wood for burning. If it is locust, then I need to go back get more!
Hot weather just means hydrate more and don't forget to shower before hitting the sack. ...or at least that's what I tell myself when facing the reality of putting up 15 cord (more really, I am trying get ahead after all) before there's too much snow to work in.
It’s a great wood but I was just looking afar and thought that might have been honey locust being so golden red but I’m often wrong. Just looks good in that truck of yours and warming the buns later. I always thought, wood taken on a hot day you might as well think of the same thing in the house during the winter. Good conditioning.
Oh damm. Don’t ever go to bed without showering after a day like that. If ya haven’t chafed to the point where your thighs look like a new york steak while working, later you will in your sleep. Lesson learned and I hardly ever make that mistake.
Firewood season for me is Jan 31st to about April 15th... i give it 100% during that time, and that time only. I will occassionaly take a scrounge during the summer, but I will not process it. The 3yr plan is great in that you can say “screw it, its too hot” lol!
Looks like perfect weather for hoarding to me. Nice looking truck too. Two months ago I was in full hoarder mode in those temps and thinking how lucky I was that it wasn't hot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, April was fairly cool here in Arkansas and we are apparently skipping over spring and right to summer. 87 degrees again today! I’m just waiting for the humidity to hit before turning on the AC.
Not a big fan of scrounging/processing in the summer or any 80+ degree weather. The trade off to that is Craigslist is loaded with free wood during these months. If I really needed it, I'd go for it but I'm situated pretty well right now for next season. Sometimes though a "free wood" ad can be way too good to pass up.
