Wolves1 , would it be possible for you to stack outside for as long as possible before transferring wood in the shed. Kinda hate to miss the next 4 or 5 months of sun.
I have 4 cords outside that I can move into the shed that has been seasoning since June of last year. I’m on the fence on moving that inside. But when I split the wood in the shed and take readings I get numbers under 20% with a piece I suspect take a reading it will read around 22%. So I keep asking myself, is it worth move 4 cords with those numbers. I was hoping the extra circulation of air will take care of that occasional piece of wood reading over 20%.
I'd leave the wood outside and top cover it, then if you want to move it in for winter, do so if it it suits you. Mine is outside all the time and I bring a bunch up to the front porch under the roof to go in the stove as needed. Either way, do what works for you. We all have different set ups based on our needs, me, I'd need the storage space in your shed for all my stuff. Enjoy your stored solar energy!
You have to do what works for you. If you need room outside for fresh split wood then by all means move some of the dryer wood inside and let the fans do their thing. Good luck and take care of that truck, it's hauling a load of memories.
I’m getting a delivery of fresh oak this month going to stack in the shed, took readings from the wood inside the shed that I stacked May of 2016 when I burned this last season, they were mostly 15 to 20% a few pieces around 22%, not sure how the numbers are that low inside the shed, maybe the shed gets warm and the heat helps with the seasoning, I did not have a window in the back of the shed just had that installed would love to see the difference the window with the window fan makes to the MC. The next burning season I’m burning oak stacked outside June 2017 will take readings when I burn then compare to the numbers of MC of wood inside shed when I burn that winter of 2019-2020.
