Stove set up for those partial to Heavy Machinery

Probably seen on the net by now but heck this is still a cool idea.

 

I thought if this was a thread for that sorta stuff I should post about my rather large trivets on my stove. yooperdave would know, he provided me with a great set of alternatives for the winter.

 

Just didn't want you using those gears for trivets!

I know haha I was looking at them thinking, they look cool but probably not the most functional. Heat mass on the other hand...

 

Even the ladies I bought them from were laughing when I told them they are for a guy in Washington that uses big old heavy equipment gears about 3" thick for trivets now!

99 found 4 more trivets yesterday, but I passed on all of them.

One of them was a cool old iron warming trivet from the real old days! If its still there next time I
m down there, I'll pick it up for sure. Looks pretty much the same as this one.

 

Those gears are dammed thick. If the local gym weights broke some would make good replacements. I wish to know what they were for but I think they just have the foundry stamp on them. Will get a pic up soon.

That trivet is something I'd put on my stove for sure. That is a nice piece!
