I guess I have never seen an older or larger one. I think you may have nailed it.

Around here I seldom see them with any size. But I don't live in a city so I don't see yard trees often and in the woods there always a trash tree and never have any size to them.

I can get a picture of one later and post it in this thread. Theres one right near my driveway . We have large ones in the woods here... I'm not in the city either... I avoid cities like the plague.

They're hardly a trash tree...they burn really nice.

Never even heard of a redbud but they look like quite a striking tree. Now I kinda want to plant one somewhere in my yard...

It resembles the mulberry I recently cut up. It's lighter color yellow and turns dark towards an orange color once exposed to air

I am a forester, we call trash trees all the other bushes and mid story trees that don't have real commercial value. Haha.

Around here there rarely more than several in he's in diameter DBH.

    Here it is

I couldn't really walk down to it but I'm hoping the bark is visible enough. The bark is definitely rough like in the op's pics.

It's about 8" dba and oddly shaped.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I'll leave it the rack for a year or so, then toss in the stove.
