Thinking about that again. I’ve burned plenty of Elm though and it didn’t smell like this.

    Already sitting at +3 C or 38 F and might hit upwards of +10 C or 50 F for a high.

See if it happens again and try to identify the species of wood. Hoping it was only the one piece. Good luck.

Things are thawing here. Snow pack is 1/4 of what it was most places.
Threw a split of white spruce in the stove this morning and its just smouldering. I'm home sick as a dog with the flu. 102.2 temp. Its really whoopin me . I hope EVERYONE! Feels better than me.

The flu was no joke this year, hope you are on the mend soon, CTF!

40 here and windy again. Burning the dollar menu this evening.. splitter scraps, old cedar fence posts, and pine cookies. It's a little smoky, but I try to burn the junk on a windy day so it doesn't bug anybody if it wafts in the direction of other houses. If the breeze is blowing north, it's got a couple miles to go before it'll bug anyone. South is a different story, and I try to be a considerate owb burner. :)

30 this morning. The motor/fan on the boiler started making a funny noise last night. So I shut it down. Some day I’ll have to pull it and see what’s up with that.

So the firewood heating season is now over here. The bubbling goo has taken over.

Going to the mid 50’s today with full sun!

Seems the winter is over. Sitting at +1 C or 35 F currently. Headed for a high of +10 C or 50 F. The snow is melting like crazy, and collapsing in on itself. Bare spots and grass showing everywhere. It would have been neat to timelapse the snow melt in the last 24-36 hours, as it's been drastic. Haven't run the stove in a few days.

Got up to the low 60's today and the snow is melting. With as soft as the ground is it will be a few weeks before I can get out and start with wood. :(

Sitting at +5 C or 40 F for now, and should see near 10 C or 50 F today. Sunny and crazy wind seems to be on the menu. If the forecast holds, there won't be much burning happening, maybe just some evening fires.

It’s in the 50’s and raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock:D
Probably could do without a fire but the wife has a fever and is cold so I’m burning a little poplar and red maple.
I’ll build one every chance I get anyway, just like many here I love it

I’m burning evenings for the most part. Here’s a pic of our first outdoor fire of the year taken yesterday. Up against the house its spring and the other end of the yard is still in snow. Ground is frozen everywhere else but the garlic up against the house which is looking promising!

I hear you. We still have lots of valley bottom snow so I wont be able to access the back roads for awhile yet. When you and I are able to get out there it will feel like Christmas!!

Nice looking trout! Looking at the flesh Id say you have a good scud population that the fish are feeding on.

Weather staying above freezing pretty much, and headed for a high of 10 C or 50 F today. Between the wind, rain and sun, the snow is disappearing in a hurry.Weird phenomenon of snow drifts and grass 2 feet away starting to green up. Had a fire last night and I thought we were going to burst into flames.:D
