Guys, I am in a pickle. My house needs a roof this year and my brother-- the roofer-- is not available to do it for reasons that many of you are aware of. So I am looking for some guys who can remove shingles, lay down OSB, and apply new roofing for not much expense outside of matterials. Beverages, bbq, etc will be suppied for anyone that can help. I must itterate, this is a large house with steep roofs so I need people who aren't afraid of heights. Anyone willing to work ground crew is also welcome. I hope I am not asking for too much, but this is something we are in great need of but cannot seem to get done.
Chit Adam...I would be great on ground crew, but Iowa seems far away. Pick a weekend and if possible I will help out!
With the new job requiring 6 days a week, I'm pretty much out. Only way I even got this Sat off for the mi shendig at Dennis place was to negotiate for it in my interview.
Buddy, if I was close I'd be all about helping you do that. I'd be on the roof. Have you gotten any estimates to have it done? Is there any Amish crews in your area? The Amish here are very affordable.
I surely hope this works out for you Adam. With my present physical condition, I'd only be in the way after a really long drive.
X2..... this is very popular here and VERY cost effective. With that pitch, snow would slide off very easily.
Asphault shingles. I have been advised against the metal roofing due to the large amount of valleys. The garage and porch were done a few years ago in asphault. I will need to measure and do the math, I have no idea. Chad knew.
Give me some idea of when and I'll see if I can make it. I'm booked through mid May with wedding (daughter), graduation (son -basic training) and moving days (daughter). I can bring up that load of oak/locust for you when I come.
I'd help if I was closer, but I'm out in Cal. on a building job myself. I helped roof my own house. It's an 8 in 12 pitch, and I fell off it twice.
you are ground crew! Stay off the roof!!!!! Heck, I have all I can do to walk on the lawn without falling over.
