"Wintry mix" and low 30s again here for much of the day, but at least the wind gave up. Yesterday's wind caused a lot of damage around here without snow on the roofs to keep things down.

Pine, willow, sugar maple, red oak, and poplar in the boiler. If that's not enough variety to keep it happy, I give up! :)

It's going to snow again tomorrow. Wtf?

I brought in the last of the planned for 2017/18 firewood this evening.

Some fir, some pine, some cherry, 1 piece of beech, and 1 ugly honey locust.

It is supposed to get into the 50's by the weekend, and hopefully there to stay, at worst.

About 27 here right now with a little snow. Loaded the boiler with Maple and now comfy in bed. Hopefully only four more days of these colder temps and clouds.

25 expected here overnight, 35 now. Elm and ash going now, have more of the same for overnight. 50 tomorrow after a mix of snow turning to rain. Mainly 50's/day and 30's/night until next week but as of now looks dry after tomorrow for 5 or 6 days.....please Dear Lord, give us dry weather for a spell.

Most of whatever the big snow/rain storm we were supposed to get missed us completely here. Still gross out, but not 4-6-8" snow . Sitting at 0 C or 33 F. More uglies burning away.

32° outside right now and wondering why I didn’t start a fire last night. Had some light snow around 10 last night.

We’re getting a one day break! I see the sun this morning, it’s around 30 and it might hit 50 today before the crap comes back tomorrow. I’ll take it! Spring fever is an understatement...:hair:

I have plenty more wood, this is just what was in the stack I was pulling from in that location. Plus I'd rather burn it up now than when I really need the heat.

Were forcast to hit 82 today??? That's normal temps for us. I have no idea why winter keeps hanging around?

I did a rough calculation yesterday. I am close to burning 4 cords this winter!! That is 90% oak that I burn. Various species of red and white. This is the most wood I have burned in any burning season in the few short years I have been at it...7 maybe? I usually am around 3 cords a winter and the mild ones a few years ago might of only used 2.5.

Imagine if I had that second stove installed this year:faint:

That cold spell we had in December I bet I burned a cord of wood in that 2 weeks!! I don't think I could burn it any faster unless I left the bypass open and air wide open and just bypassed the Catalyst.

28F here this morning. Maple is doing a nice job of keeping things comfortable inside.

High of 34 yesterday. Is this April?

Stopped at a gas station yesterday and they had piles of salt out by the pumps on sale. First time I've ever seen this in April.

Currently sitting at +1 C or 35 F and should see a high of +5 C or 41 F later. Temps are still about 5-6 degrees C below normal. Stove is pretty much cold, no coals to speak of, so the furnace can do its thing until evening.

Were sitting at 3c/37f with a mix of sun, cloud and flurries. There are coals in the stove but I think I will let it go out until this evening since the house is currently at 24c/75f. Enjoy the day!

Dang us and our thin southern blood. I'd be on the fence of weather to start a fire at those inside temps. And if it got below the low 50s that night I deffinitly would!

Do yall use hot water up their on your showers? As cold as the water is up their even in summer , maybe not. Ha!

I like the lake on a good august day, 90f surface temp. And this is no small farm pond or anything, it's 80,000 surface acres and over 100 ft deep in places so there is a lot of mass to warm up.

I don't even think I could get hot enough up there to want to jump into that!!
When our lake is low 80s it's hard to get into it after you been in the sun and your skin feels like the surface is 115 degrees or more.

I have been to NH once and we crossed into main at Kittery. Saw my brother graduate high school up there. So this was like june. I was wearing a sweatshirt!!!
