Well it's the third day of burning here, also the third day of wind and rain. 13C/55F just lit the fire with some pine kindling and 3 small splits of eucalyptus. Now the trick will be how to get a clean burn without cooking myself out of the house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Alot of freezing rain overnight with the addition of a high wind warning expiring tonight. Expecting a mess. Pellet running at the moment, upper 20s.
28 here. Ash in the momma bear. I have a bad feeling there's not going to be a mushroom season this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Low 20's, snow is finally starting to fizzle out (looks like anyway). All schools in area are cancelled along with community events
Started the stove back up last night after a few days off, 42 now and a rainy muddy mess outside. The ground was just firming up, no more.....
Easy open windows!! Wife does it all time, gets cold, builds fire, Dosent shut stove down, stove goes to 650, then open windows. Then asks me why I burn less wood and house is perfect..
House was between 64-68 this morning. We got to the low 40s last night and it again is really windy today, probably more so than during the storms yesterday. The wind behind the storm I guess. Didn't build a fire last night and with highs in the 50s it won't get any warmer today. Will have to start a fire when I get home if the wife hasn't already. We're going to be in the 30s in the morning. This is one of the later fires I have had in April and the most fire I have ever had in April. Usually it's just a random one at this point if I have one. And then just a few pieces of wood to warm up and let it go out, I have been loading it to last through the night so far in every fire in april.
Been snowing since last Friday, and hasn't stopped. I'm taking a guess we have close to 18" so far and it isn't supposed to stop until about 8pm. The sky is falling. It's very pretty. Glad we don't actually need to go anywhere.
I was outside for a little bit this morning and about froze. Mostly because it is so damp and ice falling off the trees but I got chilled all over. Sitting by the fire now.
40 MPH winds all day yesterday with a dusting of snow overnight........Been some crazy weather here, one day 75° F and the next day 40°F. 62°F inside and I'm ready to fire up the stove.
Just below freezing at the moment, and heading a couple degrees above freezing for a high. Got most of my absolute ugly horrid wood out of the pile before the rain and into the shed yesterday. Should last a week or so. Poplar uglies heating the way.
That thought had occurred to me Dennis. I've got a crap ton of dead Ash & Cherry that'll season over the Summer no problem, just gotta get it processed. I've got 15-20 cord of Oak as well, but I'll never get it dry in time. Most of what I'm processing now is soft Maple, I can get by on that fine till the real cold sets in. 30F here down from a whopping high of 33. Stiff West wind & snow on & off all day. Ash & Elm in the furnace for overnight.
Nasty mid april rain, hail, and wind. I think its upper 30's now but headed down to about 25F tonight. Burning douglas fir and ponderosa pine.
