Any chance that they can lend you a bucket while the jury is out ?

    That's a good point.
The dealership I worked at sold several different lines, but they were all the same on warranty work. The policy was that the dealership had to keep the old part for a certain amount of time...if the warranty department didn't call for it to be sent it during that time, then we were free to dispose of it. Or depending what it was, sometimes they made us destroy it.
With an unusual failure like this, I would not be surprised if they call for it to go back for analysis...

It would not look so bad but when you have that kind of pressure on it and the weld gives out it only takes a split second to bend the crap out of the steel. :picard:

Would they consider ordering you a bigger/smaller/different bucket since you’ll likely be fixing this one anyways?

The best buckets I have ever seen (on heavy excavators and front-loaders) were scratch-builds by a a very good, and very gainfully employed welder.

I have to give them this one in return for the new one. If covered under warranty.

I was just told by Mahindra Rep. the backhoe bucket has been approved for warranty replacement.

I'll be shocked if they don't take it back for failure analysis

I’ve not seen a bucket fail like this one did. I would want it back to show as a learning tool for manufacturing and Q.C.

I am very happy for you that you were able to get a new bucket under the replacement warranty. That speaks volumes about the integrity of both the seller and the company. They are willing to work with you and not cause you heartburn. Very good.

Also maybe a retest of the certified welder ( if they are) if the welds are failed item. If it's the steel, then pull the certs if they still have them or keep track of them. Bare minimum it will give the QC Dept something to play with.

What if it was a robot welder? They would want it back for sure because there would definitely be more coming in just like it eventually. Long shot I know but somebody needs a welding lesson or two.

While waiting for the new bucket to come in I decided to get this stump out of the way in a different fashion. There is more than one way to do a lot of things! 9D48EA19-8A87-4001-B4BD-F919A230EE52.jpeg CF3F1457-2A68-451E-8358-DA2B215C561D.jpeg 0ACBBFD4-8037-42E7-A3E1-6AAC1C9D3806.jpeg Bye bye stump!

How did you dig out around that stump? The hole looks backhoe-ish...

I had already dug around the stump with the backhoe and was trying to pull stump out when I then somehow managed to rearrange the bucket. :emb: That stump is seriously in there. I don’t know if the roots of the tree grew around a rock or what. But I have seen that on this property before. Trees roots grew right around and between several big rocks. Real buggers to get out!

Western Plows are welded by hand though and do not use robotic welding for their frames. Fisher, Western and Blizzard snow plows are actually just brands of snowplows and are made by the same company, Douglas Dynamics in Millwaukee, WI and Rockland, ME.

Years ago after purchasing this place, the guy that was timbering offered to drop and move 4 pines for us that lined the driveway. (it was mostly for the benefit of loading the trucks, but I wasn't complaining.)

3 of the 4 stumps were gonna still be in the way, so he graded around them, cut them as flush as possible then moved a lot of dirt over the top and graded it out. No problem.

Ironically, last winter I stuck the ATV in the drainage ditch with one tire and high-centered on the plow undercarriage. (not paying enough attention while backing up)

Hooked the 2 ton come-a-long between the ATV and the stump, I'm cranking away, ATV levels out.. then nothing. Huh??

Look back, the stump is 3/4 out of the ground.

Now if I wanted that stump out, it wouldn't budge, you know that.
