I've been kicking around the idea of buying a self propelled mower. Before today I had looked at lots of online reviews and a few mowers at Lowe's, where they were up on a display rack. This morning I visited a store that had 12-15 Honda and Husqvarna mowers out on the sales floor.
On all but 3 of them, THE HANDLE WAS BELOW MY WAIST! And I didn't see any way to adjust the position. I'm in the realm of normal height at 6'3", so I have to wonder who they're targeting with these things.

US Census data suggests that 96 % of males are shorter than you, and nearly all females (I’m 6’ even, and can relate to your point).

I have a Honda push mower, not self propelled. Have had it for 6+ years I believe, and now that you mention it I do not recall the handle position... I’ll have to check

    I’m also normal at 6’3

Are these Honda mowers or Honda powered? I know Home Depot sells some Honda mowers.

I've noticed that most homeowner grade string trimmers are made for shorter people too.

This was at Coastal Farm & Ranch. The 2 brands they carry are Honda and Husqvarna. A couple of the huskies had Honda engines.
The old Yard Machines I've been abusing for 6 years has the handle at an ok level for me.

And which realm would that be??

Heck, at 5'8" I thought I resided in the "normal" realm, for height that is.;)

But then again, I once thought of myself as "middle class".
Perhaps I'm just a rich large hobbit. :rofl:

After some reading online, it appears at least some (maybe all?) Hondas have an adjustment knob for the handle height. Though I'm not really looking for a Honda because of the price.

I am also at 6'3", we are way above normal height, pick up about any tool that is used standing up and you will notice the angle is off, mowers , trimmers. rakes, shovels.................

Agree, and I am only 6'-2"...I had a Husqvarna a while back and it had an adjustable handle. Mower turned out to be a piece of chit, but it was easy on my back!!

I'm between 6 and 6'1" depending and 225. In short stuff built in Asia don't fit!!

People are progressively getting taller and larger with better nutrition. I got a husky push mower 4 cycle it fit the best.

I'd say go with the Honda. I have a Husky and I HATE IT! The deck is well built but all the fasteners and wheels are junk. Very cheap and weak.

You should all form a class action for discrimination against the vertically enabled! I mean, every other dang sub-group in this country thinks they get special privileges or protections, why not tall folks? Must be some provisions under the ADA that you could manipulate in your favor- at the very least you might get taller mower handles ;)

Or....might be a good opportunity for the formation of a new business, pumping out aftermarket handles and accessories for taller folks...

Also, it's supposed to work 3 ways. Bagger, mulcher and side discharge. If you try to use it as a mulcher, you end up with gobs and clumps all over. Completely worthless. All the grass piles up where the bag discharge would be (plastic door covers it) and just makes a big mess.

Another normal 6'3" fellow here. I guess it's a good thing I don't use a push mower anymore.

Another 6’3” male here. I did notice the handles are too short on the newer push mowers. Then again I am tight in most vehicles, sports venues etc. time for the “normal” height to be shifted up.

6'3" dude checking in. Push mower companies obviously jealous of our superior genetics and are trying to give us chronic back issues to they can look at us eye to eye.

I'd rather somebody make a T shirt that actually fits. Just because I need a XL doesn't mean I weigh 250+.

I feel short participating in this thread at only 6’2”...but if you think mower handles are short try finding a push fertilizer spreader someone over 5’6” can use, at least its only a couple times a year. Glad I have a 14 year old at home....all I do now is ride the zero turn now, mowing ditches are the boys responsibility.
