So as many of you know I am in the middle of a very unexpected divorce. My future ex decided that the grass was greener elsewhere, and I wish her the best. As we work through the financial matters, I got some interesting news today. Before she moved out, she secretly had all of our property appraised.... including my firewood! Mind you, I have never sold a single stick of firewood in my life. I use it to keep our kids warm, and for family bonfires. Now I have to buy back the wood that I worked so hard to get. Most of it is split by hand, and it took me a few years to fill the shed. At first I was pretty angry. Now I just smile and look forward to my future without such evil in my life.
You need to find alot of willow and give her that as her half. Good luck. At least your grass will be greener now
Sounds like some firewood bandits that we read about, need to pay a visit, then this Fall, firewood fairies need to have it suddenly appear.
What am I missing? Half of the wood is yours. Half is hers... If you are keeping the house, tell her she has 30 days to move her wood before she starts incurring storage fees... covered storage for firewood is pretty rare to find so you can charge a premium.
Lol we have a winner! I really like this idea....though dropping a grapple load on the front lawn of her new house would be perfect.
Good thing you don't have fuel oil or she would've been measuring how many gallons were in the tank! Obviously, she had some "coaching". Just wonder if something as trivial as this could have been suggested by an attorney; sounds more like an arm chair lawyer is helping her. Couldn't imagine an attorney bringing listing this in a divorce decree.
With the betrayal of trust, it would be worth giving her 1/2 the firewood just to be done. Not a fun time, hang in there.
I believe it was ADC that quipped “she said give me 12 and make it hurt.... so I #$@&’d her twice and smacked ‘er in the head with a brick” In this case, a 6” diameter Black Locust split would suffice.... bitty [
All she would have to do is sell it... and it would sell quick. I cant beat her, but that is ok. I just shake my head and smile.
Yes but she wont have custody of the wood until the divorce is final. Then you own the land and house and thereby own the access to the wood. “She” would have a legal right to collect the wood. And only her alone. You can deny access to anyone else. Id like to see her hand load and move a few cord of wood by herself. You worked hard to build that pile. Make her work to take it.
Where the heck does one find a professional firewood appraiser?! What kind of price did he/she/it come up with? Is it reasonable? Don't have your woodshed divided up hardwood/softwood, do ya? Yes, as someone who is 10 years on the other side of this kinda mess, it gets better!
She hired a guy who appraises everything. He does a lot of divorce cases and estates. He valued it all at $500. As for it getting better, it already is.... trust me on this one.
