First day of working at the stihl ( and many other brands) dealership today. Gonna need a drool bucket tied under my gaping mouth

Everyone else: "over by the wall of stihl....doing unmentionable things again"

 

Been awake for at least two hours. Dang back pain! Might as well do something constructive, no?

Going to tackle the cable replacement on the dock this morning. Yes Eric VW , I will bring the camera.....

Back should be loosened up by then-I hope. The nice thing about writing a check is I won't have to do much, right?

Caffeine in yooperdave , and I even cleaned the kitchen for the wife so when she gets home from work she won’t have to do that. Time to bring some firewood in. Then a quick workout, get cleaned up and go to work myself. All you hoarders have a safe day and make sure to have some fun as well.

 

I got a chuckle out of it.
I had written that they'd probably already heard the news 'cause Val was blowing up FB about it.
They didn't believe it, just me being me,..... but they did check FB
I also showed up 45 min. late and didn't check in, just snuck through the shop to the office and waited.
I can't post some of what was said, but it was funny.

 

Cable change is done!

I got there early enough to get the dock shoveled out so I could lower it, then blocked it up of the ice so it would be reasonably supported. Had to use a square nosed coal shove to bust up the wind drifted snow along the shoreline in able to lower it though.

Lubed up a turnbuckle with some penetrant and was all ready to go once the guy showed up. He was parked in the driveway for a total of 45 minutes start to finish. Got a $50 discount for having "everything ready" making it go a lot quicker/smoother for the job.



Can't really see it, but the three sets of cables were replaced due to being rusty, stiff and started to break.

1. from the boat lift to the dock.
2. from the boat lift to the hoisting hook.
3. from the dock to the hoisting hook.

Also upsized from 5/16" to 3/8".

Yeah, back is sore.

 

So Backwoods Savage , if it snows on Easter Sunday, will it snow for the next six Sundays? We got snow flakes coming out of the sky on Sunday and for a short period, they were actually sticking on the ground. It was kind of neat to see the snow cells moving down on us and across the water. In between snow cells, it was gorgeous sunshine.

Went over to Mom's on Sunday for Easter gathering and as campinspecter mentioned, we had four generations sitting around the table. The grandkids really impressed me as they both are reading. One is in kindergarten and the other one is half way through Grade 1 and is able to read Magic Tree house books already. Lucky me got to hear him read two chapters. The painful part is coaching him to write about each chapter in his reading journal.

Men's curling to watch in a bit and then a Blue Jays game later.
