Honda PCX150 Can you guys ID this man guy sitting on my old Superhawk ? I will give you a sticker. Honda S65 with 444 miles I am forgetting a few I am sure. They are all gone but the Forza300 and the CTX1300 my favorite was the VTX1800 but they all gave me memories two trips to Alaska once with my son on his bike
where do I send your sticker? Peter is the most un assuming man I have ever met. Just an all around good guy. My old man had a saying for men like Pete " he pulls his pants on one leg at a time just like us" meaning we think he's a celebrity but in reality he is one of us. He lives about 10 minutes from me and I have made a few shop visits for coffee and to keep up on his Morgan but I do respect his privacy. He was showing me I had the incorrect bars on my Superhawk. Muscle memory had his hands in that position. He was right. Those were Scrambler bars,,,,,,
You're closer to Peter than I am. I'm a bit further down the road in Ozaukee cty. Do you go to the Superbike races at RA? I'll trade you a homemade Bloody Mary , or any other beverage for a sticker if you happen to go there.
What a beaut! Awesome Legacy Honda has with the name. Love the old and new. You've had/have some real gems! Thanks for sharin'.
Well, I have a few stories I guess. I am a long rider so 1000 mile days are not uncommon. Done at least 15 or so. My son and I left St. Mary MT and got home in 22 hr 55 minutes to So WI 1426 miles. I have only sanctioned two Iron Butt Rides. It is a pain in the arse to get witness's and log gas stops send the stuff in, blah blah blah. Both were 1 day laps of Lake Superior. 1052 miles. The first one was on a Honda CB1100 I came in third out of 15 riders. Two guys on BMW GS's passed me with 52 miles to go. I did it in 17 hours. The second Lake Superior Iron Butt was just last summer on the Honda Forza Scooter. 278 cc's of Jap fury. With about one hour to go I was first of about 30 riders when 4 guys on Gold Wings went by honking when I was at my last gas stop. Did that one in 19 hrs 15 minutes 1052 miles. Last 400 miles were in a pouring sideways rain. It's a sickness guys and there is no cure. Please don't think I am bragging because I am not. Yer either a long rider or yer not. Most people don't get it but I don't care. I just turn the key and go simple as that. ymmv
Best I ever did was 520 miles in 9 hours and I think 20 minutes, but I was ready to kick back and relax after that not go any more....
On the CB1100 I had these super bright LEDs mounted on the brake caliper bolts. For night riding in deer country. Well, on my iron butt of the big lake I met a cop about midnight and sure as snit I looked in my mirrors and he was doing a power U turn. I pulled over had my helmet off before he even got out of his rig. Took my DL, ins card, registration, and climbed back in his rig without saying a word because it was raining. He came back 5 minutes and said you are free to go. I asked why did you pull me over sir? He said I failed to dim my super bright lights "in time". I said what does that mean sir I thought I dimmed them well before I blinded anyone? I will quote the Michigan trooper here word for word: "listen pal it's midnight its raining failing to dim headlights in time is subjective and up to each officer and this is how I find 75% of my drunk drivers". My DL was clean I was not speeding and he got close enough to smell my breath so he knew I wasn't drinking. he let me go but I snuck a pic when he was running my DL,,,,,
My Photobucket has been acting goofy of late. Not sure if these links work anymore but here are just two of my bike trips Alaska A little ride to Alaska - VTXOA out west and Canada 18 days on a Versys - Kawasaki Versys Forum
Thats great. Keep the drunks off the roads! Similar happened to my son down near Appleton recently. He was speeding but not a drop of drinking going on. Trooper let him go. One of those late weeknight stops. Back in the 90's, I was 20 mph over and pulled over. Same as you, had the helmet off and digging out my papers. Deputy asked why so fast. There was a storm blowing in and I told him I have a 1/2 hour of riding before I make it home. "OK, just slow down" Very nice.
I grew up reading his Car and Driver and Motorcycle articles. It’s great reading about his adventures.
Finally got my chit together and went for a ride. Pre-flight check list complete. This is a beautiful road to ride. To locals it’s called the narrows. A stretch of rt234 that goes past the South Mountain Fairgrounds.
