The last storm here was a wet heavy snow that took down pines left and right. Power outages all over the place, to the north and south of me. It postponed the NASCAR race in Martinsville even after they trucked in a vacuum from Arizonia (I think). I think there was around five inches of the wet snow here; hard to tell and near the end it was freezing rain. The crews will be out cleaning up the roadways for some time; even today there were a lot of trees right on the edge of the roadway where they just cut back to open the roads. What a mess. Also saw a lot of Bradford pears damaged although none at my sister's house. At my sister's house it took down a pine and a maple tree beside the pine. This prompted my sister and brother-in-law to take down some other leaning pines that could possibly fall on the house. They measured one of the pines and it was 80 feet (~24.5 meters). Sawmill wood if one had a way of getting it to the mill. Instead it became firewood for me. We bucked it all up and now just need to transport it to my house where I will split and stack and let it season; these are green pine. In total, four large pine trees and a maple.

Great job helping your sister, Kimberly. You both won, she got help with the cleanup and you get some good BTU's.

Seems like there's a lot of storm cleanup, along the eastern seaboard. Too bad for the trees. Good for wood burners!

Looks like some nasty work there. I would sure be careful messing with some of that stuff. But free wood is always a good thing for us firewood addicts.
