Starting to make some noticeable headway on some big ash trees at my parents house I posted on a couple times this winter. You may remember this picture... Well now it looks like this... And this. I’ve got 3 cords stacked as of the end of today. These stacks are hidden in the arborvitae. Not the best spot but I’m running out of room. This is the start of next season on the left, fresh split ash on the right. A couple of black cherry logs I guess I’m going to c/s/s. Had a friend who wanted to mill them but never showed up. Another stack of ash in the background by my splitter and more rounds.
I think there will be close to 4 cord in the biggest tree. We took down several others in the 24”-30” range also. I am guessing 8-10 cord total. I still have a lot of work to do and it’s time to go fishing,
Cherry trees just don't grow nice and straight like that around here, least none that I've ever seen. They're either arced or zigzagged.
Unfortunately we had to drop that cherry tree so that we could safely drop a big 30” dbh Ash by it. It was a healthy tree so I hated to see it go, but the ash was endangering the garage.
