These craigslist wood ads just don't happen around me. Everyone burns wood and it's a fight to get the rare scrounge. If you don't have a woodlot here, you're gonna pay for firewood, no doubt.

I agree with everything you said, but I been lucky. I've been heating with wood since 82 and I've never paid one penny for wood. I find it and it finds me. Some years I thought I was not going to get what I need, and the wood fairy blesses me. Everyone who knows me, knows I want wood. So somebody's brother in laws, friend, uncles, cousins, sister comes through. Or I cut some of my own trees as last resort.

We must live close;) in some crazy state where 1 in 5 burn wood and those that don't live in city. My town garage has outside wood boiler 3 years old. Taxpayers said if we have to pay you to pick up storm damage trees from roads we are not paying for heat too! Got to love town meeting day. Rumor was town road guy was bringing wood home we paid him to process. Them are fight in words:hair:

That wasn’t even all of it had to go back for a truck load later that day.
I find it better to search CL for logs rather than firewood. Lots of property owners have saws to maintain trees but don’t have splitters unless they burn. Also this time of year most people don’t have firewood on the mind unless your a hoarder.:woodsign:
