I have had a rough idle for a long time and priced a carb rebuild kit at 42.99 for an Edelbrock 1406 kit. Well Seafoam works good in gas so I figured why not try it on the carb..... I soaked everything the straw would fit in and walked off for 5 minutes. When I came back I chocked it and cranked with a loud BANG BANG POP! Then it smoked like nothing I have ever seen. After word the truck runs like a new truck. Just thought I'd share that awesome result. That carb runs like new and I mean new...
Very nice! I used it and had good and not so good experiences. Glad it worked for you! I guess it all depends on the issue with the carb...
It is one of those products that I believe lives up to its hype. I put a little in some gas powered hedge trimmers of a relatives, and you would have thought that I tore the carb apart, cleaned, and rebuilt it by the way that it ran. Really good stuff. There have been some good deals on it lately at the parts store. I am about due for another bottle or two.
When I store my equipment I put a Marine Stabil/Sea Foam cocktail in the tank and run the engine for a while. I haven't had any storage problems yet. I know that's not 100% proof that it works, but it sure seems to.
I have used it for a long time but never thought about the spray can before. The spray can does amazing things! It really impressed me how well the truck runs now and how well the idle stays put. My favorite thing so far was the smoke cloud though it scared the neighbor so much they ran over to make sure I wasnt dead... I decided to run a little in my log splitter so it smoked a little this morning too. Next the carbs.
I seafoamed my truck last year. Used the brake booster line. I did it here at work, and my next door neighbors ( a gun shop) came out asking if I needed help. They thought my truck was on fire. Smoked the whole parking lot up in a white cloud
i run a bottleof the seafoam in my truck about every 5 tankfuls seems to help as my 99 silverado dont like burning corn very much
Great posts.. I use the liquid in a can in almost all my small engines and my truck. With chainsaws specifically I use the spray can. Get the saw up to temp with the air filter removed. Then spray a shot in while revving (not enough to stall the saw). Let it idle and smoke a little, then rev up and clear out. I do that about 3-4 times, then the last time (saw is HOT by now) I hold the saw wide open and spray the SeaFoam until it floods and shuts off the engine. Let saw sit overnight, then run as normal. The carbon disappears from the entire internals of the saw.
I have an old Onan in my mower that turned into a SOB on newer gas. Seafoam saved the machine. Awesome stuff.
For a joke me and a buddy poured some down the booster line on another buddies truck while he ran to town. Let it set for 1/2 hour. He thought his motor had crapped out on him! Gary
That machine gets used a few times a year and sits otherwise. Since the Seafoam and incorporating Stabil in its diet, it has done pretty well especially given that I was at a point where I was going to sell it for scrap.
