Trying to get onto the three year plan, currently closing in on two years CSS. Finding enough wood as a scrounger can be a challenge, but the longer I'm at it, and the more I have stacked in my yard, the more I get offers of good trees. The October storm got me tons of great wood, and the failed winter has allowed me to split a bunch up earlier than I thought I would. fishingpol tipped me off to a few good scores also. It's nice having next years wood already seasoning. I hoped to make out big on the last storm, but it was a minor rain storm around here. I had a post on a local facebook page offering to remove trees, but nobody bit. I finally got aN offer on a tree that a local guy took down, many passed on it because of the location. Lots of great maple and cherry, my kind of score!
Yesterdays haul When I can get to them, there are some 4 foot diameter rounds. I'm going to have to quarter them to get them out of the yard
Some great BTU's there Rowerwet All of that is going to be buried in snow in the next 48 hours.. So looks like you can take a break from scrounging for a litle bit.... Feels good to get ahead on the wood supply....
So are you going back for that monster maple trunk this spring? I drove past it today and it sure is huge. I'll keep passing info on any local scores that I can't get to. I buy a cord from my tree cutter neighbor and scrounge a bit more, but I have storage limitations.
Good for you Rowerwet , keep after those biguns and you'll get to your three year plan, and have muscles like Popeye to boot.
Nice pics Rowerwet keep scrounging you will get there! fishingpol just wanted to give you a for being a great member.
Nice work Rowerwet , I've found that a lot of people won't go after the tough to get stuff, or the bigger trees. I'm fortunate that as of now I have a nearly unlimited wood supply, but I got the connections doing just what you are. Talking to people, doing the grunt work that others won't. Nice job!!!!
Hopefully better than where I am. It's a disaster. Trees down across roads everywhere. Power will probably be out for days.
Pelham 25 5410 5672 95.4% We currently have crews working around the clock to restore power to your area. We're working to have all customers restored by Sunday 6:00 PM. Those 262 who still have power lucked out.......for now.. the map doesn’t look that bad... the actual numbers are... liberty has their work cut out for them.
Not good at all. Downed trees, snapped poles, wires down. Some areas may be 3 days until restoration. 20 out of 23 main power circuts down and 12 substations down in the Merrimack Valley. Helicopter needed to locate breaks along power lines r.o.w. Rowerwet should have no trouble finding scrounges around here now.
No power at 2 AM, but the stove is running strong, about to go home from work and wire the generator into the camper outlet , yes I know not to have the main breakers on! Earlier today Interstate 95 was shut down by a downed wire just at the border of Portsmouth, NH, crazy
I had to run out for a bit, there are limbs and trees down everywhere, you should have no trouble scrounging up a bit.
It's damm ugly for sure. Salem is dark as well. Looks like Midwinter got lucky on this one! It's a hoarders dream out there! I cut up a 14"dbh Red Oak that was blocking the feeder road to my neighborhood this morning. Other neighbor pushed it into the woods with a backhoe. Those are gonna be heavy rounds if I get to them before someone else!
