There is a fellow not too far from us who has sold firewood for many years now. So, some others close to him also decided they'd sell some firewood. They undercut his price. He then undercut them. Now they've cut again. One can buy firewood here now for $120 per cord! I doubt that is a delivered price and I think only the one is set up to make deliveries. It is just funny to watch and I'm wondering where this will go.
I don't know what the price of a cord wood is here. Everybody and their brother has had ash trees taken down, cut to firewood length and left in the yard. One guy had 14 large ash taken down around his house and the rounds left. These citidiots think they are going split stack and burn all this wood! I'm just sitting back laughing and waiting for the 'free wood' signs to go up! I hope they go up before it all rots.
It's about $150 a cord in S.W. Missouri now. BUT... tho I've seen the ads on the local CL I don't know what species it is.
My brother sells wood. He price is $180 a cord, about the average in this area. He has a steady base of customers and he doesn't worry about those who will get some wood and sell for cheaper prices. His regulars know that he will have wood for them whenever they need it. He doesn't make his living selling wood, his total sales are probably 2% of his income, the rest comes from his excavating business. Firewood is something he dabbles with in the winter when work is slow.
It's double that here as well. Typically. However, I did see $300 for a 3 yrd dump box full advertised.
Just got 2 face cord delivered yesterday. Best friend's father in law does a LOT of cutting, he's got over 100 acres and is "retired" In his barn, and the covered area the length of the barn he has enough wood hoarded to make many a hoarder jealous. He charges $75 per face cord delivered, and I didn't balk a bit. I know I could get it a bit cheaper, but I know the guy and it's not like he's making a million doing it. It's good hardwood, well seasoned, but he splits like it's for his OWB. 20" long and some HUGE splits. I think only 2 of the larger pieces might fit into our stove at one time. But it's good long-burning splits.
Same here with all the ROW and new service lines being run. I've been eyeing up a honey locust and black locust "mess" in this guy's front and side yards for months. I should just stop in on my way home some day and tell them I can make it all disappear at no cost to them. It was a vacant house, now sold, so I just have to wait until there's a car there again.
A cord of Shaggy Bark Juniper runs 235 delivered A cord of Arizona White Oak runs 300 not sure if that's delivered or not and if you want fruit wood like apple for smoking you're looking at 290 for a half cord and you have to pick it up. FIREWOOD and COOKING WOOD There's the link if you don't believe it. Phoenix is an hour and a half south to that location. No thank you.
Well, Hello JotulYokel I hadn't even noticed that you just joined yesterday. Welcome to the HoardersClub, I think you'll find it quite nice around these parts. Ouch.. sorry to hear that, still better than fuel oil in my opinion, but you know how opinions work out. Having never been to Aridzona .. umm.. Arizona, I wouldn't have thought of many fruitwood tree's out that way to begin with, but then again, I'm speaking with no point of reference for the area. I know that around Lubbock Tx, you could practically count the tree's on fingers and toes. Very desolate in my opinion (there's that word again)
