I love those little japanese mini trucks. Id love to have a 4x4 one. There a few around here. There were a few importers 10 years or so ago of them.

I have seen those little trucks on air force bases and a few navy bases. They are cool cause the sides all fold down. Several of the importers of the small japanese tractors have sold and sell them. Several years back when the yin was strong as our dollar fell it was hard to import things and make money selling them as they cost so much just to get here. They pop up on CL here in the south and you see them. The hunt club magazines you see them advertised. Like GON and stuff where customizers and importers selling them. They have like a motorcycle engine in them.

I was looking at these the other day. They compare them to the JD gators and other UTV on the market. 4x4, more capacity, A/C etc. some have dump beds! Pretty cool manual Tran, 3-cylinder, more hp than UTV and about $5-6k compared to the UTV market for $10k plus! Interesting...

There is a guy here that drives a mini truck on the road he had a forsale sign in the back window. I went and looked at a couple that were on CL a couple of years ago. The one supposedly needed a starter, which probably meant the engine was locked. They both were rusted really bad so I passed. I'd still like to have one but I don't need one and can't justify $6,500 or more for one.

I'd love one on the farm. But I use my real mini truck...which is my late after in laws mitsubishi mighty max.

You can buy a 4x4 ford ranger or older toyota or mitsubishi pickup which is just a tad bigger and has way more capacity for the same money. Very similar ability esp if you get regular cab shortbed. There a tad wider but the new line of UTV's are about as wide as the 80s and early 90s jap and American small trucks

That one with the locked wheels is awsome. It's in great shape too.

Again I'm like you id love to have one but not for $6k. Those would be awsome for firewood with those drop sides and dump bed.

We haven't had the Hilux here for 20 years or so. I'd love to have a 4 door Hilux deisel!!

The military here actually has some Hilux trucks they brought back. They drive them on road and stuff

It was just replaced by the Tacoma in like the mid 90s? And when it was the Hilux no where on the truck was the name ever posted like it is in overseas model.

I want diesel cause I like them for maintenance , ease, durability and torque and effeciency. We don't have a diesel offering here and I don't think there has ever been a truck diesel offering from toyota.

And 4 door to hold stuff and family

I've always thought the same about an old Ranger or Toyota. Some of these new UTVs are huge.

I have 79 F-150 that I used but don't use it anymore. It has a mini spool in the rear and the power steering only works about 10% of the time. It is fun turning it. Something I find odd about the truck is it has dealer installed a/c and a block heater. I think it also had dual batteries. Back in those days a/c was only for warm climates but with a block heater and dual batteries you would think it would have been in a cold climate. I keep it parked in the road into the woods. We had a bad wind storm and I heard a noise. As soon as I heard it I knew what it was. I looked out the back window of the garage and tree fell on the roof of it. It even buckled the door down but did not break the glass and the door still opens. You can throw all the wood you can get on it and the old truck does not squat.

Are those older trucks, mostly manuals or autmatics?

Sounds like a Tank - so its still in your possession and in use?

I'd say the big American trucks in the late 70s through about the mid 80s are half and half. I have a 1980 k10 which is a half ton 4 wheel drive chevrolet. Basically the chevy counter to his truck. Mine is an automatic. My wood cutting buddy has a 1980 f250, his is a manual.

Once you get into the late 90s foward most are autos. The smaller trucks of the 80s I would say most are manuals, the import ones that is.
