went out today to start working on the bucked logs ive been collecting all year.. This would be 19-20 & 20-21... I split one round, reached down and grabbed round #2... As it was going on the rail I heard a loud pop, my legs collapsed and I folded like paper... Was stuck there about 30min until she came out for the dog.. It took her and 3 big burly farm boys to load me up. I bulged a disc and it obviously hit my nerves... Left legs had pins and needles for last 9hrs.. Dr said ima hate life next 3-4 days!! Uugghh getting older sucks!

That sucks to hear, sir. Here's to a speedy and full recovery. Did you have any pain/symptoms before this? My wife wrecked her back a couple years ago just bending over to pick up a branch no more than 3"round. She fed me rounds to hand split the year before for hours at a time in the snow, stacked weekly.. just moved the wrong way one time and "pop." It sure can happen fast.

Kudos to you for being far enough ahead that this won't leave you cold, though!

Yikes that does not sound like fun. I bulged disc is not something that just goes away and can sure put a lot of pressure on the spinal cord if severe enough. Hope you get well soon and be careful.

From someone who has had back surgery for two ruptured disks, please take it easy for as long as you doc says and maybe a bit longer. You do not want to surprise your back by doing any sudden moves. I have been following that advice for 14 years and so far so good.

Holly crap, that doesn't sound good,
I bet that was scary when it happened.
I hope you heal up quick and fully so you can take a jog around the block

Man, I've done that but been down for just thirty seconds.
I can imagine thirty minutes and hope you are back at it in three or four days.

I'm thinking a cell phone should be added to the list of PPE. I know I always have one on me when I'm CSS'ing. 30 mins is a long time

Sure hope you are able to heal sooner than later.

If I go outside or in the pole barn to work for more than 10 minutes my cell phone is in my pocket.
Even if I go outside to load my buggy up with wood, never know, you can slip on the ice or whatever

That only works if you live where you have cell service. Not all of us have it:(

That's very true, if that was the case I would have a GMRS radio on me

I know what it is that you're going through. Back in the 90's, I through a piece of firewood about the size of a coffee can and I hit the ground before the wood did!
The recovery was long and I seriously thought I would never be able to walk again! It took me 20-25 minutes just to get my feet to the floor to get out of bed. A trip to the toilet (in the next room) would take 45 minutes!
Looking back on it now, it's funny but at the time...there was no laughing at all.

    Good luck!

Now all u will need is time to heal and about $150.00 of pulp hooks, hand tongs, pickaroons and a Peavey/log lift.
I've severely messed up my back many times. It will absolutely change how you do things. You will get real tired of short bars on power saws too. Life goes on. But to be able to enjoy things like doing firewood you will need to do some adapting.
