Took my weekly jaunt across 1/2 of the U.P. this morning. Very nice to see the moon big and bright as there were no clouds in the sky and bare highways all the way.

Not much traffic once again. Can you believe I drove 42 miles before I met my first vehicle? :picard:

Got my new miter saw set up tonight. I'm in love.

I made a few cuts with the stock blade and it borderline made my ears ring.

Swapped the stock blade for a Freud and made sure I got everything dead-nuts square. The new blade is as close to silent and I can imagine....I hear more motor than I do blade. It's seriously like black magic or something. I've run Freud blades on my table saw and old miter saw but this is a whole new level.

Did a 5 cut square test and I'm off by .0045. Good enough for this guy.

    Enough woodworking geeking out.

Caffeine going in. Time to have some breakfast and get moving. Cold wind outside but I’m going to go out and try retrieving some firewood.

Hey lukem, congratulations on the new saw man. Those are very nice.

I use to do a little wood working myself. Nothing special, just enjoyed building stuff. I’ve gotten away from it with my priorities on other things now. Luckily we have some fine Amish builders close by.

Shed roof tear off completed yesterday. Whoever thought staples were for shingles should be shot. I pulled staples for 3 hours.

Tar paper on and drip edge up. Just need to shingle it today.

Yep. When a tree branch decided to fall and total my 30 foot camper, this became the deer camp sleeping quarters. Heat, ac, Tv, microwave, coffee maker. It's small but comfortable.

Heres 1 of 3 heat sources warming up my shingles for the 2 intermediate ridges on the roof. It's a fairly steep angle and I don't want them to break.

The other 2 are propane and do not require a.c. power. 30k btu, and 18k Btu.

Excuse the mess. The dog is a slob with his water lol.

Ugh. Son had to stay home and not go to his basketball tournament. Too sick with a head cold to be doing that. His twin sister went to her tournament. So I told Mom she could leave our youngest daughter home with me and our son. So I’m spending the morning inside instead of cutting firewood. We watched a movie together and I’m cleaning and doing laundry for the wifey. :zip:

I was all set to go out and start stacking next years wood out in the sun. Didn't realize just how windy it still was. I made it as far as filling the tire in the wheelbarrow before throwing in the towel. No need to suffer through it needlessly. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Our late morning walk was nice and brisk. Then, once we turned into the south, the wind fought us every step of the way...just a nice steady sustained strong breeze. At lest its keeping the temps warmer.

Tomorrow is snowshoeing and feed. Hope the wind dies down as it will be through a forest. Don't need and branches falling.
