Saw this just blow over. I believe it's oak. I know the base of it was showing rot, but it seemed solid and leafed out last year. I think the wood racks caught it. More pics tomorrow, once it's safe to go out closer. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk

We've had some pretty strong gusts here. Don't know how strong because the cups blew off the anemometer. We have a tall pine down and a big poplar down so far. Some of the covers are blown off my stacks. Just what I need more of. Pine.
Cleaning that tree up will wait, it's not really in my way. My BIL had a decent white pine limb cone down. So, I'm off in the morning to help him get it out of his way. Good campfire wood for him. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
Well.. a 2nd tree was blown over. A standing dead maple. Here's the oak. It's resting on a thin cedar. I'll need to be cautious on this one. It's got some tension built up. Base of the oak Maple - laying flat. Looks like there's some rot in the middle of it. I hope it doesn't go up too far. If it does, then it'll end up in the campfire pile. Used a tank of fuel bucking it. Some good campfire wood.
You definitely got it worse, or better depending on your point of view. I cruised some back roads this AM, and nary a limb was down.
I had a bunch more trees go over last night too. One big oak, one more big poplar, some maples and the rest pine trees. So about 20-25 trees altogether. I lost count. So I'm at my mom's right up the street and I'm watching this big tall pine tree near the street that uprooted a little bit yesterday and I'm noticing it's a little further over than it was early this morning. Then I'm noticing as I watch the wind have its way with it that every time the wind pushes on it it doesn't quite come back to where it was before. Just as I say 'Hey that tree is gonna go over with the next good gust of wind' we get the next good gust of wind and it blows it over onto the high tension wires at the street, bounces off of them and then slides off them dumping the tree in the driveway in a shower of sparks. Her lights are on in the kitchen but as I go down in her basement to shut the power off she's got no lights, so I just shut the master off and she's waiting for the power company . Who knows when they'll be here. I'm not touching the pine tree until I know both legs of the power are Oh-efF-efF off. Just one pic. I've got my laptop tethered to my phone for internet. Comcast went out here. It's a bit slow loading and uploading pics.
We've had one cherry trying to fall for a month or better in the treeline, but the Bittersweet and grape vines wouldn't let it. A bigger cherry next to it lost its patience during the storm and went for it. It too got hung up. What a mess. I'll go back to finish the clean up tomorrow.
