You need to use a suction pump/ mighty vac thing for testing.

Thanks, I'll look for one. Looking for a tach too. I know some pistons cut outs are matched up to the cylinder. So I'm guessing I need the same piston for this kit? The stock Xtorq jug isn't that bad. I may try to clean or lightly hone and get a stock piston. Then I can put the oem intake set up back on.

Heading out to cut a pick up load of rounds with my MS260 &Husky 350 now. Would be quicker with the 372, bummer.

Id throw an poem piston in the jug or a meteor piston in it and take the BB off. Mastermec said he do sent think that the BB kits get much more performance than OE.

I'm going to clean the stock jug and get an oem piston and some sort of brush type hone bit. Putting it back to stock should put me back on the right track. It had plenty of power stock, but my "man card" says always go for more power if available:saw::). Plus it was the cheaper route too.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

I cant seem to find a 372 XTorq piston and ring set. It looks like they are different than a regular 372 piston. Has any one done this or know who would sell them? I'll call around next week....just didn't see any online. Thanks

Try that link, they have ARI ipl for Husky. An old school way to check for air leaks is to let it idle and have the clutch cover and top cover off. Spray a shot of carb cleaner or WD-40 around the intake boot and both sides of the crankshaft. Listen for a pickup in rpms or a drop. Not quite as good as a pressure test but it will usually indicate a gross seal leak.

Thanks for the link and I wish I had tried that trick before I blew it up. Another $100 for oem piston and rings. All together with blown bb kit, still half of what shop wanted. I like to give my business to the saw shops to keep them around. But in this case it was to much money, I buy everything from him, and he understood.
Thanks again, new to this forum, great group here!

You should be able to buy an poem piston and jug for $300ish I think.

There was a non x-Torq piston and cylinder that just sold yesterday on eBay for $20 w/ $10 shipping. In good condition with a couple broken fins.

    Clem- What's a poem piston? ;)

At times that can qualify as work too... but mostly a blessing. They're only little once. Congrats!

PM tlandrum for a price on a new oem kit if you want to go that route. He'll be a bit cheaper than the $300. I would stick to oem whether it be an old style cylinder or the xtorq set up.

If you do get the OEM cylinder cleaned up, you could just slide a Meteor piston in it and call it good. The piston does not necessarily have to match the manufacturer of the cylinder, just the bore size.

A note about big bore kits, it was my experience with the Hyway big bore kit for the 046/MS460 that it did not make significantly more power than stock. I did notice that the port sizes were a bit smaller than the OEM jug. I have learned quite a bit more even since then and now I would be tempted to open up the ports a bit. I cannot speak for other brands and the BB kits that they offer or BB kits available for other saws. I have a couple saws in boxes here in the shop now and I might just re-visit the BB kit issue with one of them.

There's not a meteor for the xtorq cylinder set up yet.
