Mornin' folks. Just sittin enjoying my morning coffee. Tried reading the morning news but that is just all too negative for me. Get a chuckle out of all of the media experts talking of another "weather armageddin" for this weekend. I think it's time to head out to the shop and get into something constructive. Y'all have a good and safe day...................

Caffeine going in. I’ll be sticking close to the house this morning. I have a fuel truck coming to deliver 150 gallons of kerosene. Tank is just below one quarter and I like to be able to count on it for back up. Also, when the heating season is done, I’ll go to burning that for our hot water needs over the warmer months. That 150 gallons, plus what is there already, should last me over a year.

More rain today and temperature rapidly falling with 20-30 MPH wind out of the NNW. Got some venison backstraps marinating in the fridge...was going to grill them this evening but starting to rethink that plan...cold sideways rain is no fun.

So.....my truck hasn't ran properly for maybe a week...comes close enough to stalling that she might as well stall....or actually does.....intermittent issue with varing frequency....can't truse to leave moms parking lot really......I'm not one to throw parts at stuff but tried a couple cheap used parts including an IAC.....which she did throw a code for....made it a bit better, so I'd say it was gone, but there's clearly a parallel or linked issue. Has to be fuel, or seems more likely, maybe a vacuum leak. Thing is, which for sure and where..... Well, I'm about done messing with it in the snow.....I'm not what you'd call an expert, I'm pretty good with suspension, body and frame, exhaust, basic engineand gears mechanics.....I mean, a computer nerd who barely knows a wheel from a door can shake a wheel and tell a joint is loose. Electronics and vacuum systems.....I have my limits. Have to limp her to the garage early in the morning, at least they're professionals and have a real good code reader and smoke tester and stuff.

Anyhow......dad got me to work the other night, car won't start back up. Looks like a terminal somehow got loose on the battery.....called my buddy, he got the car boosted and no further trouble from the car. Good.

Last night....my buddy gets hold of me....his truck was hit and run, and not by just anything.....had to be something with a good solid corner.....a plow, heavy sander, even a dump truck or something of the sort. Bumper is beat in about a foot, and there's a straight crease going right from the bottom of the bumper to the edge of the hood. Just about dead center on the truck too, Chevy bowie cracked in two. He has to go back to where he was to talk to the manager who wasn't in when he found the damage, and see if cameras caught anything. If not, probably never find the coward and it's on him to fix it out of pocket...... low life.

I'm not sure I want to look at anything with wheels for a while...... :picard:

Wow, that took quite a hit. A tractor trailer sideswiped my son's car in a parking lot at work. No one saw it, but the truck was delivering to a shop there. Police caught the guy later in the day but there were no paint scrapes on it. Had to run it through his own insurance. Good luck to your friend.

Trying to snow here. Lots predicted but looks like there won't be much which is fine with me. Probably won't even have to use that snow blade but won't take it off just yet.

Maybe he'll drown himself in the drain

They aren't overly malicious creatures though.....probably won't do any harm. Hopefully he'll just go back outside.

    :ups:

New toy...er um...tool just showed up. 12" sliding compound miter saw.

Been wanting one of these forever but couldn't quite pull the trigger. I'm in a weird spot where I'm done buying low quality stuff that's not exactly what I want, but still too cheap to actually pay for it. This one finally got cheap enough as it was being phased out for a new model.

Going to put it to good use this weekend installing some stair treads.

Sorry about your and your buddy's truck woes. I hope something turns up on the security camera. Probably someone who doesn't want to lose his job.

That thought occurred to me too, but I hope they do lose their job.......were I the boss, I'd sooner forgive someone honest about it than a coward who just ran.....there's no excuse for it either, not unless it was a brake failure or such. Otherwise, they had to be be intoxicated, distracted, or just careless.

The store turned up no such luck. He was more toward the other, vacant side of the building....... only hope now is if a nearby business had cameras in view, which especially given the lay of the land is kind of a long shot, or someone comes forward, which is a longer shot still. :headbang:
