Found this old Homelight in my FIL shed. I'm Going to Clean her up tomorrow and empty fluids. (I can't imagine how old the gas is!) It's not locked up and seems to have compression, but I don't plan on attempting to make her a runner. Did a little checking and the seem to go for $50-$100, does that seem right? Any suggestions in cleaning tanks, bars chains etc? Should I attempt to get her to run? I would'nt even know what gas/oil mix to use?
My grandpa had one of those. It was kinda fun to run. Big, heavy, loud, and slow. But in that same tone, kinda fun to have that big bastard snarling and popping away.

40-1 is fine with ''modern'' good quality synthetic mix.I'd stay away from ethanol too,its not kind to those older rubber fuel lines & carb diaphrams/gaskets. 16-1 or even 32-1 was used up until the 80's when the 2 cycle mix wasn't much different than regular old SAE 30 weight motor oil. I can get ethanol free (most pumps around here its called premium unleaded) for like 25 or 30 cents more a gallon,compared to the ''super unleaded'' which is 10% or so ethanol. Considering I rarely use more than 20 gallons of mix in a year,that's cheap piece of mind to avoid any future problems with my vintage saws.
