With the weather either being too cold, or too muddy, and my woods being 85 miles from home, I haven't hardly gotten any of my 100+ tops cleaned up this winter. I've gotten about 3 cords cleaned up so far....and those were all out of a bulldozer pile that was right in front of my barn. What a major pima compared to just a simple drop and chop. Chit goes where it wants to....no rhyme or reason. Grrrrrrr. Lots of pucker factor. Even a stuck saw or two Well, that's gonna change today. My helper is back from FL. Weather in the 40s for 2 days. Saws are sharp. We are gonna go cherry pick the easy stuff for the next 2 days. I've got sinkholes the loggers dozed tops into but those can wait. I'll be grabbing anything that's right next to the trails. After the next 2 days, it's back to lots more rain, so hopefully we get a decent amount out. I have to considering I sold off my 3 year plan to pay bills this winter
2 face cord hauled out, split, and loaded so far. Now it's fire time. Tomorrow starts the serious work.
Aaaaaaaaand the joys owning an unattended place in the woods rears its ugly head again. No cutting today. Discovered a good roof leak last evening. Once my coffee is done, it's time to tear out the ceiling insulation, and see what can be done to seal it up. Grrrrrrr. I think this will end up being logging damage, but doubt I can prove it. Update once the tear out is done.
Hate your luck with the roof bocefus78 but envy your outdoor and woodcutting time. And the pic of the dog, fire, beer and even a shed antler.... Hope repair is quick and simple and that this finds you well. I gave grace a week ago tomorrow to my beloved Savvy and miss her so. Cherish every day my friend.
That roof doesn’t look like it’s in too bad of shape - hope you’re able to get er patched up quick, and get back to cuttin! I spent my thanksgiving weekend last year re- roofing my shed, pretty much identical to yours. Not too many jobs I hate more than roofing. You planning to tackle all the brush from those tops too? I probably spent just as much time this summer burning brush as cutting wood.
Roof is 7 years old. Can't see a leak from the top, but found it from the bottom. Rained all day yesterday and tar wouldn't stick. About to climb up and patch it now. And yes.....burning the brush is a full time job. It sux.
Oh wait! There's more! Lost a trailer bearing on the way home. 2hr wait on tow truck. Bearing welded itself to axle. Can't get it fixed on roadside. When it rains it pours.
