Love that first picture. Wood usually does much better if split then left for a time to better dry. Stove likes it that way for sure and usually get more btu from the wood. That is, until we learn how to burn water.
These are bark beetle killed trees that have been standing dead for few years so drying not an issue. They burn very well.
I had about 18 rounds that I had debarked a few years ago and used as ends to a stack on skids. Once the stack was burned, I thought, let's see how these rounds are... . Well, they were drier than the splits were. They had been vertical on top of skids. A pleasant surprise. Generally, my experience is that splits dry better after splitting, but these rounds were the driest wood I've burned all winter.
Thanks. They're Scandinavian and super efficient. The soapstone is optional and pricey but it does great job as heat sink to maintain heat after fire burns out. I had heard they might have stopped export to US. This one is 8 yrs old.
Here's one dealer of Scans. http://www.inglenookenergy.com/Stoves/Wood_Freestanding/Scan/scan_anderson10.htm
Sorry! You did have the make- Scan. When I saw that, I thought it was just a reference to how you'd uploaded the picture!
