So Im in the market for a new toy and Im thinking its time I bought an AR. Im looking for advice and a quality affordable rifle. Ive been looking very closely at stag arms specifically this one https://www.stagarms.com/model-3/ My biggest debate is since Im a left handed shooter would it be better to buy the left handed model or would the right hand model be just fine for me? Ive never owned a left hand rifle my pistols are all ambidextrous. I just wonder if its worth the extra loot for the lefty model or would it be easier and just the same to just get a ambi safety switch and whatever else is needed?
Well, mine is right handed, but an example would be optics. I have an eotech weapons sight, and a magnifier. The magnifier is a flip to side, but only flips right, for quick close target acquisitions. Other than that, I see no issue. Stag arms makes great guns. Throw in a geisselle trigger and you'll be set.
If you are left eye dominant I would go with a left handed upper. If not the gas will be blowing towards your face and the hot brass be coming by your head.
the stock m-16's i shot in the service had a snap on brass deflector for left handed shooters, i suppose there is one available on the civilian market.
I would go with the left hand model. I developed a bad flinch after shooting a semiauto .22 it would blow just enough gas that I did not really notice it at first. it took a bit to get out of it. Almost all my guns are right handed but I don't have many semis just the 22 that I don't shoot anymore and an sks.
