Let’s assume the 462 costs the same or even LESS than the 461 ... “wood” I purchase it ? Maybe after it had all the bugs worked out ... Will it outproduce a 461 in stock trim ? Not imho ... with equal mods ? Not imho ... It is a looker and seems like it revs quickly and also enjoys a sleeker, skinnier chassis
Time will tell! Maybe it won't outproduce in your videos for the type of cutting you do - cutting cookies off a log set up at perfect cutting height for you...but a saw that has the same power with 1.5 lbs less weight will outproduce for those of us using saws for something other than making videos.
Iirc my first 044 Stihl with wrap handle bar and dual falling dogs weighed 13.4 lbs. And that was in 1990. Imho, saws haven't advanced much since about 1998 or there abouts. The year they got the 046 Magnum figured out so they didn't break their own flywheel key. I know it was a new saw, but its power and speed didn't show me anything I was impressed with. However, it does look like the 441 in the distance between the pistol grip and the handle bar. That's good. I like the hood on the top of the pistol grip. Horrible let down loosing 4 cc !!!!! Can't figure why they are discontinuing the 461 in favor of this . Must be for the short bar guys.
I'm guessing it won't have as much torque as the 461. Which means it won't do so good with a long bar. 30-36" Watching the vid the op posted. My Madsen Modified 044 would out cut it. And it weighed the same.
I have checked with the local dealer it’s not easy making an arctic out of a non. The crank, magneto and handle is different. Dealer looked into converting one and it’s easier to drive 800 miles round trip and get one.
Yep - they are killing off 2 saws with the 462c ... the 441c and the 461 ... I agree the 4cc is a lot in a piston-port engine ! According to my sources the 462c just ain’t gonna pull a longer bar like a 461 stock or ported ! I “wood” be stocking up on allthe 461’s I could afford !
Huh ; iirc you need a generator and the handlebars and basic wiring skills ... I’ll see if I can find link
10 face Processing job for a gent ... there’s a big difference in cutting firewood at one’s leisure and processing for hire ... you don’t work ... you don’t eat
I see you have a deep throat that hands you secret information about Stihl chainsaws in a parking garage. It all make sense now.
I checked too, luckily for me the borders 10 mikes another 25 to a town so shorter trip! Then there is the toys I mean tool budget
No sir ... no “deep throat” nor a parking garage involved ... I cannot divulge any more but rest assured the source of this info knows his stuff !
