Sitting at -14 C feels -24 C, or 7 F feels -11 F. Nothing like having the weather warm up, only to have the wind pick up to steady 15 mph-20 mph gusts. And snow to boot! Wind is supposed to pick up into the 30 mph range later, while southern Sask is supposed to see in excess of 50 mph winds.
Did not get as cold last night as predicted. Supposed to be a quick warm-up tomorrow then fall back again. At least no more snow for a while.
I bought a house in November, then installed the boiler in December. So I wasn't ready in terms of having wood C/S/S. I do tree work on the side; so I have tons of wood stashed. I've just been burning up older stuff I have piled up. Most is 2 years old or so. Loaded up the stove with beech, red oak, Chinese chestnut, ash and some soft maple. 21 this morning.
21°F-6°C now They say a Low of 21 °F with temperature rising to around 26 by 5am Ash n maple choochin in the Lopi
Getting cold again after a really nice warm up... Had snow all day, but nothing stuck.. It will be low 20's tonight and windy. Hearth is loaded with red oak, and some cherry slivers to fill the gaps.
The wind really kicked in this afternoon. gusting to 30 mph right now. And a little snow that is really having a hard time landing!
Currently 20 and getting down to 18 tonight. The winds are right at 16mph out of the NW making it feel in the single digits. Have a nice load of ash and cherry in the Kuuma with the dial right above the medium setting. The house is nice and toasty.
One more trip outside to fire the OWB for overnight. I have some maple lined up like soldiers ready to go to war!
28* outside and white ash is heating the house easily. It's 75* inside one room removed from the stove. Suppose to be nice weather for about a week so the wood stash should be safe for a while longer.
Well we've had a weird one. This morning it was 3 above at the cabin and 27 below at work . Which is 5 miles away. But is prolly 400 ft lower elevation. It was a little breezy at home but dead calm at the shop. That's not the most extreme swing tho. Gakona was 5 above and Copper Center was 37 below. On the river it isn't but about 20 miles. But Copper is kindof in a hole. So . now its 10 below . at least as of 1.5 hours ago it was 10 below and calm. Mostly poplar in the stove.
BIG wind gusts here today, the big window wall slider that compromised from the microblast last year (getting fixed when it warms up this summer, 16' opening) was both flexing and rocking/banging against the frame and tracks, my truck got sandblasted both on the way to the bus stop and on the way back, several dirt devils and couple cool water spouts too. All that said, it's a warm wind.... Bit of snow and colder tomorrow night.
A bit breezy here and supposed to get stronger. Got a bit colder overnight than predicted (what's new?) and supposed to go into the 30's today.
30ºF outside right now Just getting the stove going again since last night. Two splits of red oak on each side and a top down pine fire in the middle. Gets it up to temp pretty quick. Now to clean up a little bit more of the forecasted 1 to 3 inches of snow from yesterday that is 9 inches deep before it rains tomorrow.
