Wet and windy this morning on the walk. Still met a few hardy souls out there doing the same thing. We have what the meteorologist are calling an atmospheric river above us. Pineapple express from Hawaii. Warm, wet system that is causing flooding and washouts on the lower part of the island. Snow melt is contributing to the flooding. Where my oldest daughter lives, they received 9 inches of rain over the weekend. Ucluelet is considered the wettest part of the island but not usually that wet.
Dropped the wife’s Pilot off to be professionally detailed inside and washed outside. When they are done with it later today, I will take pictures of it and put it up for sale tomorrow. Time to go cut some wood. Both the Echos going out with me this morning. Work from the truck. Then go out with the tractor when I need a break and retrieve the rounds.
Looks like it will be a couple more weeks before I try cutting wood again. Maybe it will warm back up by then.
This morning I settled on a low mileage 2015 for the wife and ordered it. It will be a week before it gets here. She is happy with it and said let’s get it. Then I cut a decent amount of firewood up in 1-1/2 hours work this morning. Retrieved three bucket loads, but there are several more loads out there. Had to break and run errands and have lunch with my parents.
No. Honda has been an excellent vehicle. I tried to talk her into another one. But kids are getting bigger and second row of seats only come in bench. Wife wanted more room and quad seats (captains chairs in second row). She went with a Buick Enclave. I just had to find her one we could afford. They are overpriced station wagons in my opinion. But my brother found her a 2015 with 26,000 miles on it, AWD, Leather Edition with some extra toys. Came with extended warranty as well. She’s happy.
Those Enclaves aren't cheap! I might get my wife one of the twins to it. Either a GMC Acadia or Chevy Traverse when it comes time to retire the Kia.
Where abouts does the equinox fit into the picture compared to the acadia/enclave? A little smaller or same ole same ole? I kinda like the Rav4......
Back in 2012 after I retired we were looking at the Acadia, Enclave, and traverse. We settled on the Acadia because it was less than the buick and better than the chevy.
I meant the Traverse. I didn't like the styling of them, and wouldn't have even considered them before the 2018 restyling. Not sure if the new Traverse is slightly smaller now like the new Acadia's, I would assume they moved it to that platform though. My MIL has a 2016 Acadia, and I'm a fan of it. Much more room for the second row than my wifes Kia. Though, it cost nearly 50% more too.
Caffeine in. Time for breakfast. Then to bring in firewood. Wife’s Pilot went up for sale last night.
For you folks looking at the acadia,traverse,enclave....consider this. Beware the repair costs on those. For many what should be simple repairs, the entire motor and front end assembly has to drop out the bottom of the frame to access things like water pump, timing chain, etc. A normal $400ish repair on any other model vehicle, adds well over a grand of labor to that figure because of how they shoehorned the motor in these things. If you just have to have one, trade it off at 100k or the first sign of trouble.
Nope. My brother is a used car dealer/repair shop. This is a GM off-lease. Dealers order them when they come off lease and before they go to auction. It’s not a great deal. But it’s fair. And this way you know what your are getting. One owner, clean Carfax. No accidents. He has 30 days to return it if it gets here and he, or we, are not happy with it.
