    Hello,

I was scrolling through craigslist and found this for Jaffrey, NH area. I asked what they were and he said Blackstone pellets. I don’t know anything about Blackstone pellets.. but seems like a good price? Figured I’d pass it along for anyone who’s out in that area that might be interested.

Thanks for finding out what kind - I had assume they were NEWPs just because they were from Jaffrey.

I tried Blackstones a couple years ago (another member gave me some) and they were decent.

    Thank you!
My house came with a Napoleon NPS40 when I bought it back in 2015. First two winters I didn’t even consider using the stove and kept the house around 60-65 to save on oil. This year I wanted to try it out, so I gave it a full service. Now that my house is consistently above 70 degrees I wish I used it from the start. Only time the baseboards go on now is just to circulate water on the coldest days to prevent freezing pipes.

Do you have a ThermGuard? I love mine - just have to remember to turn it on when it gets really cold and it runs the FHW3x/day for 8 minutes each time. Of course you can program it to do whatever numbers works for you.

No I have a nest thermostat which comes with a phone app. I just use the app and set the thermostat to be within a degree of what the stove has the house at for the day/night. Seems to have worked well so far it runs the pipes every 3-5 hours for about 10 minutes. And on days above 30 degrees they won’t run at all. I am considering the thermguard though, I like that set it and forget it aspect.

    Welcome Bnoyes !
I burned a ton of Blackstones last year and they were decent, above NEWP gave off good heat with moderate ash. In a bind I would burn them again although I don't know if they are of the same quality as when i burned them.

same here.. used to keep house at same temps just to conserve oil.
now i run around like i am in florida in an undershirt as we have constant 72-73 temps in the living space.. no more heat up/cool down/ rinse lather repeat..
should have bought one long ago.. going into 5th season now.

I think I would put them a step below NEWPs.......just my impression on burning both. Blackstone is arguably more "green" as they use old pallets, grind them up, to make their pellets. I do worry somewhat about consistency though, and what might be on some of those refuse pallets.
