I thought it was Rutland it was a combo deal but I do remember once the cement cured it was hard as a rock and what little got on the glass could not be removed .

I have never experienced the hardening with Rutland only the Imperial, or maybe the Rutland bonded well enough and held the gasket in place that I did not have to use the amount of adhesive that was necessary with the Imperial crap . I have been using Rutland since probably 1980's for wood stoves over the years and don't recall ever having a problem with it.

Many years ago,I used the "rutland" glue(I think, was crap,I see, over the years, things have changed to the same thing automobile mechanics use, probably because it works so much better. The temp rating on the "silicone" sealer is unimportant,as,once hot and fired,it is going nowhere.I still have a tube of old style rutland crap,do not know what I will do with it,LOL

Interesting but annoying Josh sorry man , curious as to what brand did you use and what seems to be the problem? Would 3/4" do the trick ? Is it adhered well ? Not sure if there is an adjustment to the latch but on the p68 you can adjust the latch to create a tighter seal as your gasket wears. Check it out you may be able to adjust the catch for the latch .
    Good luck man
