Stay cool! There's not much worse than a traffic jam in summer heat when you're low on gas! I bet you'll stay away from Melbourne for awhile. I have a cousin who lives in Brisbane.
Yes I think the only thing that is worse is when you have become the creator of a further traffic jam because ya ran out of gas and are now pushing ya ute in said summer heat! Actually if I had ran out of gas just moments earlier while I was still in the tunnel that would have been monumentality bad. Probably would have made the national news. I could imagine the headline, "Melbourne came to a standstill today as this bloke wearing a FHC screntch t-shirt runs out of petrol in the Burnley tunnel." Lucky I ran out where I did! I once stalled my car in the Sumner tunnel in Boston. I had parked my car at the airport all week, didn't warm it up long enough, and it stalled when traffic in the tunnel slowed down. What happens is, a truck with big bumper pads shows up in about three minutes and pushes you through the tunnel, and leaves you on the shoulder out of traffic. It's up to you to figure out what to do next. In my case, I waited awhile, and my car started up, and I drove away. My son slept through the whole thing. This was long before cellphones.
They Do the same on that road as well I have seen it done a couple of times however it probably would have taken 30-60 minutes for the truck to get to me if I had broken down in the tunnel because the traffic was crawling at best actually stopped most of the time. Mornin' folks, yesterday morning it was 34 degrees, 24 hours later it is 6. This roller coaster "winter" can go away anytime now..... I can tolerate winter in a normal year, but this up and down chit does nothing but keep everyone sick and makes a mess of the landscape with all of the ice.................There, rant over!!! On a brighter note, coffee really gooder this a.m.. Gonna head into town later today with the "Boss". Wednesday is our usual "lunch out" day as well as mid-week errands that we might need to do. Getting ready to head out for the day her myself. Trying to cut back on the coffee a bit (only one cup so far) but it still tastes good! Maybe pizza for supper? Yeah, I think so. Might be a good evening to take a look at that new laptop too. All have a good day.
Sleep through the quake as it wasn't felt here. We are so high up the hill we weren't roused for the tsunami warning. Busy day yesterday so I wasn't doing much FHC surfing. Thanks for thinking of us.
Caffeine going in. Time to go down to the barn and plug the tractor in for an hour or more. A couple days off and I’m hoping to get out in the woods and get some firewood cut.
Got the stomach bug making its way through the house. Kids were up all night so I was too. Coffee isn't working.
Yikes. There is a wind out there, and at 10 F it doesn’t feel very good. I better have something warm to eat before I waste away to nothin...
Forgot! I had to come and give a pint of blood. But, I made it early and it’s done. Now I’m not suppose to do any heavy lifting for the rest of the day. I was suppose to go cutting firewood. I should have made my appointment at the end of the day. Oh well. I’ll just have to take it easy for the rest of the day. I can still get some work done with the tractor though!
I'm fresh out of wood on my porch, and grossly lacking the desire to reload it. Think I'll head out with the big tote and have enough for tonight and in the morning. Getting a little cool in here, guess it's time.
Had to go to the big city again. Got home late but house still nice and warm. Waiting now to stock up the stove for night.
Coffee will do that, and it will make you go more. It's a bad combo. Get better, this bug is flying around.
