We use stihl chainsaws and sticksaws at work. Probably about 35-40 of each. They run the gamut some dont run for chit ever. Others get dropped rained on snowed on you name it. I've been known to stand on our occasionally.:emb: But the 026 on our truck keeps on getting it.

I have a Stihl 045 I bought in 1979 that has never failed me and starts in 5 pulls or less no matter how long it has set, it has had a crank seal set and a carb kit installed but it is 35 years old.

This one sits in the barn and pretty much only comes out to play when the 029 needs a hand with the larger logs, which by the way will be this afternoon after i come back from town ;)

Sharpening and a good cleaning will be done first.

Love all these comments...keep em coming !!!

BTW...thats a cool 272xp there !!! I buy saws that look like that all the time . All that oil and gunk seem to protect the finish underneath really well . Some Simple green , a rag , and an old toothbrush....and that will shine like new !!
    Love that pic :)

I think my 359 Husky fits this. It is only going on 6 yrs old, but my goodness, the wood it has cut! North of 400 full cords and only put a clutch and sprocket in it. Other than that, it is always raring to go! Will never get rid of that thing!

My dads Pioneer Holiday II. Bought new in 1968 and other than replacing several bars and chains, only had one spark plug changed. Not even so much as a carb kit. Cut 6 full cord a year for a lot of years. Was retired this winter just because he wanted a new saw. Yes, he bought a Stihl.

I have a Poulan Pro weed eater that I have abused for 9 years now. I have nicer weed eaters, but the Poulan does my Pond. Every week or every other week, it's held at WOT for about 2 hrs while I go around the pond. Normally takes about 2 full tanks of fuel and 2 full heads of string.

When she starts, it's a little sluggish. Once it gets hot, she rips. Every year I think it's gonna be its last? But she keeps coming back to life every Summer.

Never changed the plug in it yet. Just clean the sponge air filter in the Spring, lube the head, and pressure wash it. Good to go
