16.9 °F was the low last night. Burning Walnut now. Northern Arizona is completely different than the desert to the south. I'm in the forest above 5500ft where we can easily get over a foot of snow. I'm happy to only be looking at 2 inches.

22 F this morning. Started snowing last night and still coming down. Suppose to snow most of the day today. Plenty of wood in the garage so all is good.

Sitting at -10 C, or 14 F this morning. Pretty easy on the wood supply with weather like this, but holy cow is it gloomy.

I saw today the forecast of 6-12" for much of the UP and a bit less for part of the LP.

I really wanted to get out to try cutting some wood yesterday, but, other things happened so couldn't try. But I really do want to try soon. This crazy time it is taking for recuperation is driving me batty.

We did have some hoar frost this past week here. First I've seen this winter but we usually get 3 or 4 shots of it every winter. Sometimes light and sometimes heavy. I like those days with a heavy hoar frost that lasts all day.

Some places can get quite a bit. For example, Flagstaff can get hammered pretty hard sometimes. I remember one time driving to Flagstaff from the east. It was cold and windy but just before we got to the city limits it started snowing. By the time we turned south heading toward Phoenix there was about 6" of fresh snow on the ground. Saw 2 bad accidents going south too. People just did not want to slow down...

    68f here!!

Out for a few days, but left a load of oak slowly going in the big (catalytic HIGH Valley ) stove. Nights will still get cool so wanted to leave it extra warm so that the house hopefully is not 60f when I come home. That load I put in there at the level I left it going will put out heat for almost 24 hours.

That's the biggest thing I dislike about warm snowing weather.
Always dark. That's what I got tired of on the coast. Dark all the time.

I've had to walk around on snowshoes with a 16' pole thumping small dead spruce to knock the host frost off them so I could tell if they were live or dead and dry. For days here When I had my firewood business.
A quick Chinook with gusty winds is preferred. Lot less work involved. But hard to run a production schedule waiting for weather.

On this one you can see how the wind blows the snow around the house.

38F right now, was 47 earlier. Not really burning anything except for the end of the fire I started this morning with some silver maple. Really kinda' nice to just ignore the stove for the moment.

Don't get me started on the way some people drive in Arizona in snowstorms or on icy roads. I understand they may be from the desert or southern California but common sense should tell you to slow down or better yet just stay off the roads.

Thats one of the reasons I left Vancouver BC. I love visiting there and its real pretty but wouldnt want to live there. Also the very frequent cold winter rain is hard to take. Id take -20c and sunny any day! I do miss the ocean from time to time though.
