Yup it’s true we had 4 live red oaks come down the last storm. I had a friend from work that burns come over and we cut them up so he could haul them off to his stacks.

He was happy and now I can get back to the dead standing oaks that came down for our stacks.

So does this make me a dead oak snob. :picard:

I’m in the same boat. 90%+ of what I burn is dead standing red oak. The latest was a white oak that died in ‘12. Not my preference but I’ll take it.

I also am a wood snob...used to get mine (in the burbs) through CL..but now I can cut on my own land. Luckily have mostly red oak, and 60 to 70 footers at that, so I will be good for years to come. Have 2 dead ones to get first, so won't have to harvest live ones next year probably.
