Well I figured the back window of the F250 the pick up was on borrowed time cutting firewood so I have been on the look out for a window protector. The problem is all manufactured ones I looked at also had ladder racks built in and were above the cab of the truck. The truck right now just barely clears the garage door the way it was so the conventionally produced would not work. I found a homemade one on CL for $60 that was built heavy duty. I welded a piece of angle iron in to move the rack back 2" farther away from the cab and then painted it, (poorly) but hey, it's a work truck.
One round in the lower left of the last photo is making a bid for freedom. Hunt him down. Let none escape their fiery fate.
Firewood Bandit Looks like you will have it all split and stacked just in time for the summer heat. Looks good
You call it a work truck , I'd say it is a commuter truck, since your stacks go all the way to the next town.
Great idea! I welded up a old section of fence as a headache rack. In the words of a buddy in response to another friend giving me a hard time... "A lot of $hit talking can go down for the price of a back window" Agreed with him 100%
I just stopped to check on the log landing for the landowner and takes some pics for him as he isn't in town. Wasn't really planning on cutting much. I normally take a trailer and cut much more. Trust me, the single round will not get away.
When the bed is empty, the saw's bars go in it and that way they don't move or roll over in transport.
Got to have the window protector!! I’ve got an F250 as well and have a back rack which offers little protection I ended up cutting a piece of plywood to fit it and use some u-bolts to hold it on. Works good just does t look as nice as yours!
Hope to have it done by March before golfing weather comes. I have about 10 cord split/stacked right now.
