I got the stove going after a couple year hiatus. We remodeled the basement last fall and winter so I was unable to use it. Finally got it put back together and burning. It sure burns better using good dried cherry I cut 2.5 yrs ago.
I was hoping to get it finished before that last cold snap, but better now than never. I’m down in the southeast Corner, outside of Fort Madison.
I summer there at a cottage near the Wahpeton water tower. Been in the family Last year we went in the end of August, really was nice but the time we were there the weather alert said massive rain storms and boy, were there! Makes fall rains here look bad!
Nice, a very popular area here in the middle of all the farmland, a lot of the summer was dry until later on, some bad storms in the area.
A lot more people winter there then a few decades ago, if there is snow they have a lot of places to ride snowmobile and a winter festival at the end of Jan. Not sure if there is many places to cut wood in the area, big money up there so wood could be pricey for the expensive homes with fireplaces.
Oh yeah. No fireplace at this cottage however the summer i went, I actually woke up the first time to the heat furnace turning on. It was remarkable as it fell below 50° one morning. Never before experienced that there.
